2019 Ford Escape Drivetrain
Under the hood of the compact crossover is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine. This unit replaced the old 1.6-liter drivetrain. In first run, it looks like engineers made a good choice. The engine is capable to deliver 180 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque. Optionally, we can find 2019 Ford Escape with an improved 2.0-liter EcoBoost4-cylinder engine. This one can produce 245 hp and 274 pound-feet of torque.
These engines are still new, and both are pairing an automatic start-stop system. With it, Ford reduced fuel consumption for Escape by 5 percent in urban areas. So, now the crossover returns 30 mpg outside the city with 1.5-liter unit and FWD setup. In 2019, the company will probably drop a 2.5-liter engine. The aging drivetrain must go under reconstruction if it wants to be a part of the lineup in the future.
