The upcoming 2019 Ford F-550 is a Super Duty pickup truck that brings awesome performances and hauling capabilities. Similar to the F-450 model, the F-550 offers more power and more rugged exterior. Made exclusively for work duties, this truck comes with two driving setups, three engines, and three cab configurations.
The forthcoming model will get a few changes and improvements. That includes the different shape of sheet metal and more aluminum bodywork which means that this truck weight is reduced. The frame is made out of 95 percent high-strength steel and on top of that, the aerodynamics is improved as well. The 2019 F-550 will get an interior update as well, and generally, a whole package is on another level.
2019 Ford F-550 Exterior Design
A whole Ford’s Super Duty lineup got an exterior refinement. The changes are visible at the first glance, especially the front end with the new grille and headlights. On the other hand, some old styling cues are still visible. The front adds a new twin-bar grille with the vertical side vents. Front bumper adds a tow hook as before and the windows up front look sloppy. There are three cab configurations, a regular, Super Cab and Super Crew Cab. Super Crew Cab configuration is offering a rear door that opens up 170 degrees so the access is much easier now. Body-color door handles, quad dual-beam halogen headlights and fog lights are all standards. Moreover, LED roof clearance lights are in the offer as well, just like the front and back tow hooks and splash guards.
Modern Interior
The 2019 Ford F-550 comes with a premium interior. The overall feel inside the cabin is familiar and it seems like everything is intact. However, Ford will bring some improvements on the inside. Of course, some features such as TFT display or SYNC technology will remain. On the other hand, some new features are present, such as seven cameras that are providing a 360-degree view. Furthermore, a wireless camera is optional and it can be attached to the rear trailer. Just like before, a SYNC 3 comes as standard. This infotainment system offers very good performance, it is responsive and it comes with a voice recognition. Also, an 8-inch screen comes with the SYNC 3.
A Class-Leading Diesel Engine
The all-new 2019 Ford F-550 will offer a three powertrain choices. Two familiar engines are a 6.2-liter V8 gasoline unit and a 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8. The third engine is a 6.8-liter V10. A 6.2-liter V8 generates 385 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque as before. A turbodiesel 6.7-liter V8 comes with some improvements as the engine is rated at 440 hp and 925 lb-ft of torque. This diesel unit offers a class-leading torque number. A V10 engine is capable of producing 288 hp and 424 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, a transmission is another category that gets an improvement. A TorqShift-G 6-speed automatic gearbox is in the offer.
Price and release date
A starting price of the 2019 Ford F-500 is $55,000. Of course, the price will go up with higher trim level, we recommend a Lariat model for $58,500. This Super Duty pickup truck will go on sale at the beginning of 2019.
