The 2019 Ford Ka and Ka Plus are entering their fourth-generation in both sedan and hatchback body styles. Third-generation of Ford Ka was unveiled back in 2013 in Brazil. Unlike its predecessor, the 2019 Ford Ka will share plenty of styling cues with more famous Ford Fiesta model that will be discounted soon.
Offered in basically all the markets around the globe, this hatchback is also known as Ford Figo. The next generation is not yet available for the customers, however, almost all of the specs are reviled. Both exterior and interior are much improved, the performance is boosted as well and Ka Plus model will bring something new.
2019 Ford Ka Enlarged Exterior
Based on Ford’s global B platform, this five-door hatchback shares plenty of styling cues with the Fiesta model. The 2019 Ford Ka will arrive as a slightly longer car than its predecessor. On top of that, the wheelbase is increased too and there are two length options available. The 2019 Ka Plus is a longer model (167.5 inches) while the standard Ford Ka is 157.3 inches long. Up front, a trapezoidal grille is a highlight among the headlights that were slightly swept back. The tailgate is flanked by the taillights that are enlarged. The rear bumper has gained some more muscles and the spoiler looks sporty.
Interior to Offer More Space and Comfort
The all-new hatchback is yet to drop official information about the interior, however, most of the things are already shown. As mentioned, the slight dimensional increase will boost cabin’s space and the overall interior is enhanced and modernized. The seats are slightly moved to the back, both headroom and legroom are improved, and higher roofline plays a huge part in this positive changes. The trunk offers only 9 cubic feet which are less than average for this segment. The interior is packed with hard plastic materials, however, the premium feeling is present thanks to the nice finishes and beautiful color choices. The control layout is basically the same as in the Fiesta and the center stack has some aluminum finishes.
Special attention is given to the safety and this hatchback will arrive with six airbags and anti-lock brake system. Also, plenty of driver assistance features are included as standard.
Drivetrain Specs and Mileage
The engine lineup is tied to the specific market, so the European 2019 Ford Ka comes with a 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine that is capable of producing up to 90 hp and 82 lb-ft of torque. A 1.5-liter diesel is rated at 100 hp and 160 lb-ft of torque. On top of that, the diesel drivetrain offers good mileage, 58 mpg combined, to be exact.
2019 Ford Ka Plus
The 2019 Ford Ka Plus is a special edition of this hatchback. The exterior adds more chrome materials on the front grille and body-colored bumpers, door mirrors and handles. The Ka Plus model adds a fog lamp as standard and both 14 and 15-inch alloy wheels. Additionally, the interior is looking more luxurious than the regular Ka Plus model. The cabin adds leather seats, and more optional features are standard with this model. The 2019 Ka Plus is powered by the 1.2-liter Duratec engine. This four-cylinder unit offers up to 84 hp and it features a regenerative charging system and the fuel economy is rated a 57 mpg combined, as a result. A 5-speed manual transmission is available and Ford claims that the CO2 emission is decreased to 114g/km.
Price and release date
The price of the 2019 Ford Ka is $15,000. The Ka Plus model will cost slightly higher, around $18,000. We could see Ford’s latest hatchback on the markets before the end of the current year.
