The upcoming 2019 Ford S-Max is a very modern and affordable MPV. The second generation is present, however, there will be plenty of changes for the arriving model. Some significant changes are ahead of this model and even a hybrid drivetrain is available.
Ford S-Max suffered its latest redesign in 2015 so the forthcoming model will get a facelift. Moreover, the interior will bring interesting changes even though we don’t have all the information. The interior brings comfort and friendly environment. Generally, this MPV offers space like a regular SUV and driving manners like a regular car. Interestingly, Ford S-Max was in one of the Top Gear episodes. This model was competing against Mercedes B200 and Vauxhall Zafira and it was described as the MPV with the most comfortable interior and best-looking exterior. Practicality is another advantage of the S-Max model and the price is affordable.
2019 Ford S-Max Exterior and Interior
While the most of the changes are visible, the 2019 Ford S-Max will remain the same. That means the shape and the stance are intact. The changes include a rhomboidal grille with chrome accents and thinner LED headlights. The hood line is also all-new and it looks gorgeous. The rear end will get flat styling and the stop lights sit higher than before. To the side, the sloping roof is nicely done and the aluminum line that runs across the whole body looks elegant. The S-Max takes a wide stance and it looks very sporty thanks to the latest upgrades.
The cabin mix the latest modern features with some old-school shapes and cues. Don’t look at this like a bad thing, as the interior of the 2019 Ford S-Max still offers plenty of standard and optional features. A new 8-inch touchscreen sits in the middle of the dash and Bluetooth is now standard. More USB ports and new audio system are also in the offer. Heating and ventilating front seats are now available as an option. Overall, the interior will stay the same as well, besides those changes and upgrades. The cabin is comfortable and pleasing, most of the features are user-friendly and the layout of the buttons is perfect.
Standard, Optional and Hybrid Drivetrain Options
Ford’s newest MPV will arrive with a couple of engine options. While everything is still a speculation, we can confirm that the new 2019 Ford S-Max will offer a 1.5-liter petrol unit as standard. This engine is capable of producing 157 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque. The same engine is used in the latest Ford Escape and Ford Focus models. The optional 2.0-liter engine generates up to 238 hp and 254 lb-ft of torque.
According to some sources, a hybrid drivetrain could happen as well. The hybrid variant will benefit from the 2.0-liter engine, a battery pack, and a single electric motor. Together, the output is rated at 188 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque. The fuel economy numbers are not available yet, but we can expect from the hybrid model to deliver class-leading figures. All of the engines will use a 6-speed automatic or manual transmission.
2019 Ford S-Max Price and Arrival Date
The approaching 2019 Ford S-Max will arrive in May 2019 and it will cost slightly over $30,000. The hybrid model will cost more, up to $38,000.
