The 2019 Lincoln Nautilus is not just a simple replacement for MKX crossover. The company is not just changing the name while everything else remains the same. Whatsoever, even if they did it, the luxurious SUV would remain attractive. First of all, reasons for changing the name is because the company is dropping all MK- models. Not only crossover but also vehicles in other segments. Also, the MKX is now upgraded with a new look, new drivetrain, and a new transmission.
The exterior of the 2019 Lincoln Nautilus is different than for the SUV it replaces. Front fascia and interior suffer changes. Also, the specs sheet is now coming with numbers of the inline-four drivetrain. For this unit, engineers prepared an 8-speed transmission. Few colors are added, and we are going to see the 2019 Nautilus in Black Label trim as well. However, we still don’t know the precise price of all trim levels. These are going to be available closer to a release date.
2019 Lincoln Nautilus And Lincoln Aviator
The 2019 Lincoln Nautilus is not going to be the only replacement next season. We will also see the new Aviator, which had a presentation at the Auto Show in New York. The vehicle is coming back from retirement, in some way. Well, back in 2006, when the carmaker decided to discontinue it, its replacement was MKX. Now, the 2019 Nautilus succeeds that one, so we can speak of it, as Aviator’s new successor.
Similarities between these two models are small. Aviator is a full-size crossover, luxurious version of Ford Expedition. However, it won’t be as luxurious as Navigator. On the other hand, the 2019 Lincoln Nautilus is taking a spot in the mid-size segment. It will compete for likes of Audi Q5, BMW X5, or Lexus RX.
2019 Lincoln Nautilus Modifications
At the first sight, all fans will recognize the new grille on the 2019 Lincoln Nautilus. With it, designers had to revisit front bumper, so the front fascia is almost completely new. Headlamps suffered few changes. New shape and higher position are different compared to MKX. Wheels are changed too. Expect Nautilus to offer more color options than its predecessor.
Interior
Inside, the dashboard suffered a redesign. Now, we can see the 2019 Lincoln Nautilus with digital cluster and wireless charging pad. Drivers are getting more assistance from the infotainment system. Also, controls are simpler on the steering wheel. As an additional option, we can find special seats with premium leather trim.
2019 Lincoln Nautilus Engine
Specs of the 2019 Lincoln Nautilus are similar to its previous edition under MKX name. However, engineers updated it with a new drivetrain. So, the mid-size crossover will come with 2.7-liter EcoBoost unit and 2.0-liter four-pot mill as two options. The company drops a huge 3.7-liter drivetrain.
Base models are using the smaller displacement which is good for 245 horsepower. Engineers also developed a new eight-speed auto transmission for this powertrain. EcoBoost option adds some power, so owners of this one will count on 335 hp. Also, the standard offer will significantly improve the fuel economy of the outgoing MKX and its big V-6.
