The icon is back and more buyers are purchasing Bronco SUV. The company continues to improve the vehicle. Last big thing was the Raptor version. Now, the 2025 Ford Bronco is getting a PHEV engine. In the future, this nameplate will be used for the EV as well.
In the meantime, Ford will try to fix some of the things that annoy owners of the current generation of Bronco. For example, the SUV delivers a lot of power, but it can be pretty noisy. Bronco is an excellent vehicle for off-road adventures. It is a serious rival to Jeep Wrangler. However, the on-road performance is not so great, mostly because of the gas mileage.
The 2025 Ford Bronco should be more comfortable. We can praise the infotainment system. Also, the exterior is something that will draw the attention. The 2025 Ford Bronco Raptor is even tougher with all the upgrades it brings.
Engines and Specs
Under the hood of the Bronco SUV is a 2.3-liter turbo-four engine with 275 hp and 315 lb-ft. You can upgrade outputs to 300 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque with premium fuel. Manual transmission is still there, while an automatic is optional. Two- and four-wheel drive provides even more choices. The gas mileage is not something that sells the SUV. In the best case, you can get 20 mpg, while most configurations are thirstier. Under 20 mpg are numbers of some big SUVs that use V8 engines.
An alternative with more power is a V6. The turbocharged mill can crack out 330 hp and 415 lb-ft, again with premium gas. Otherwise, the 2025 Ford Bronco delivers 315 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. Interesting, a 2.7-liter V6 plant is not too much thirstier than the smaller block. The base setup returns 19/20 mpg.
2025 Ford Bronco Raptor
The most impressive member in the lineup is 2025 Ford Bronco Raptor. It is packed with a mighty 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that delivers 418 horsepower to all wheels. The unit is also good for 440 lb-ft of twist. Automatic transmission is standard, as well as the 4WD. Ford also made some tuning to the exhaust system. You can set up the valve to sound Normal, Sport, Quiet and Baja.
Besides the engine, the Bronco Raptor also comes with several body upgrades. Skid plates are protecting the SUV, especially underbody. Special tires and colors are ready, plus many other unique interior and exterior details.
2025 Ford Bronco PHEV News
According to multiple sources, the company is working on the PHEV system based on a turbo-four engine. This is going to improve the gas mileage in the first place. But, we’ll see what is happening with the off-road performance of the SUV. It will also make the Bronco a step closer to the Wrangler and its 4xe version. The same sources claim the battery that will be mated to the internal combustion engine, is good for 30 miles of electric range. Also, expect 50-100 hp boost. The gas mileage should gain a few points.
2025 Ford Bronco Pickup Truck
Another interesting rumor is that the 2025 Ford Bronco pickup truck is joining the lineup. With the capabilities of the mid-size SUV, this wouldn’t be a surprise. The truck can get enough power and torque for towing and off-road performance. On the other hand, the company doesn’t have a slot for the Bronco pickup. The all-new Maverick debuted recently as a compact pickup to complete the lineup. Also, the all-new Ranger is coming out, and the F-Series are untouchable. Having this in mind, we doubt the Bronco is getting a truck version.
2025 Ford Bronco Sport
Another Bronco will still be there. The 2025 Ford Bronco Sport is not a trim level, but a smaller SUV with excellent capabilities. It uses a 1.5 and a 2.0 engines with turbochargers. The SUV belongs to the compact class, so 180 hp coming from an inline-three unit is more than enough. More important – the Bronco Sport will return 25/28 mpg. Optionally, you can select a more potent configuration with 250 hp and 277 lb-ft. Those are numbers for premium gasoline. Standard fuel works fine as well. The towing capacity of the 2025 Bronco Sport is 2,000-2,200 lbs.
Release Date
The new 2025 YM is coming out as soon as the PHEV system is ready, but not before the second half of 2024. The pickup truck is not so likely, so don’t expect too much. The electric version is also coming out, probably in 2026. The 2025 Ford Bronco will again offer tons of options. There are ten trim levels already. Some will be dropped, but the new ones are coming as well to update the lineup. Besides that, fans expect a revisit of color palette and a reshuffle op features and systems across the lineup. The base price will go up again. Expect the MSRP to be around $33,000. Raptor is adding options valued at around $40k.
