The 2020 Ford EcoSport is a small SUV that will arrive with plenty of changes and updates. The 2018 EcoSport has just arrived and we already saw a glimpse of the 2020 model. This SUV is only present for five years now, however, the current model didn’t impress at all.
Now, the 2020 EcoSport should offer much better ride quality, and the interior will get much better comfort. Moreover, the interior will get more driving assistance amenities and we still don’t know what will happen to the engine and transmission. Exterior will suffer some changes as well, and the new platform is on the cards too.
Escape-Based Exterior Design
For now, all we got for the upcoming model is rendering and rumors. However, according to reliable sources, the 2020 Ford EcoSport will ride on the Ford’s Global B-Car platform. With that in mind, this small SUV could become even smaller. A similar thing happened to the seventh-generation of the Ford Fiesta.
Speaking of the Fiesta model, new EcoSport could borrow some styling cues from this compact hatchback. Moreover, Ford EcoSport is likely to borrow a lot from the larger Ford Escape. The rear boot is opening horizontally and not vertically. On top of that, you can open the boot thanks to the small button hidden on the right reverse light.
How Will New 2020 Ford EcoSport look from the inside?
Ford’s designers will face a tough challenge to deliver more upscale interior to the customers. The current model’s interior didn’t receive so great reviews. With that in mind, the 2020 Ford EcoSport will for sure get a significant interior upgrade. It is speculated that this SUV will get more upscale materials and better comfort.
Latest partnership between the Blue Oval carmaker and Bang & Olufsen will deliver premium audio system. Moreover, the cabin will draw plenty of cues and features from the Escape model. However, a large departure will be a large 8-inch touchscreen.
New Engine from Ford Fiesta is Probable
One of the biggest critics of the current EcoSport is its dull and underpowered engine lineup. Ford is likely to keep at least one of the two drivetrain choices. The standard unit is a 1.0-liter three-cylinder that comes with the front-wheel-drive system. Optional unit is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost with an all-wheel-drive setup. The optional engine is capable of producing more horses than the standard one, up to 150 hp.
New drivetrain under the hood of the 2020 Ford EcoSport could be a 1.6-liter four-cylinder that powers new Ford Fiesta. With that in mind, a 2.0-liter EcoBoost should remain as an optional engine. This makes perfect sense, as the new platform could mean a new engine and new transmission as well. Other markets such as European and Asian, will get a diesel engine for sure.
2020 Ford EcoSport Price and Release Date
The all-new 2020 Ford EcoSport will cost slightly over $23,000. Famous Titanium models will cost almost $30,000. This small SUV will on sale by the end of 2019 as the 2020 model.
