Many will agree when we say the Ford Expedition is the best full-size SUV at the moment. There is plenty of reasons for that. Moreover, the 2020 Ford Expedition will get further aluminum work from the outside. The interior will benefit from the heavier use of upscale materials. Most importantly, a hybrid drivetrain will arrive as well. Not only that, new Expedition will get its diesel variant as well.
If the seven-seat full-size SUV isn’t enough for you, Ford is offering the Expedition Max model. This model is even bigger and it can accommodate up to eight persons. Max Limited and Max Platinum are offering a real luxury both from the inside and outside. This SUV will see some further upgrades and changes and the price will stay intact.
Exterior Changes
The exterior of the 2020 Ford Expedition looks really aggressive and striking. You can’t miss the Expedition model out in the parking lot. This full-size SUV will borrow some cues from the F-150 model. However, the design is unique and modern. Blue Oval carmaker is working hard in order to reduce the overall vehicle’s weight.
More aluminum materials are present, along with the chrome trims that should boost the modern and upscale appearance. Up front, LED headlights will be standard and the same stands for the taillights at the back. Further changes will not happen on the base model. Ford will look to offer some new exterior packages, instead of giving each and every trim level mid-cycle refreshments.
Trim Levels
The upcoming 2020 Ford Expedition will arrive in three trim levels. XLT, Limited and Platinum trims are in the offer. The XLT trim represents the base model that offers pretty much basic stuff with a minor offer of premium amenities. The Limited models will offer more standard equipment such as leather upholstery, Wi-Fi, 20-inch dark aluminum wheels and hands-free liftgate. The range-topping Expedition Platinum provides the best possible comfort.
Front bucket seats, leather upholstery, power folding seats, and power running boards. Whatsoever, the panoramic roof comes as standard, along with the premium B&O audio system. An entertainment system for the rear passengers is available too, just like the 22-inch aluminum wheels.
2020 Ford Expedition Hybrid and Diesel Engine Specs
Remember when we wrote the Expedition SUV is probably the best full-size SUV at the moment. Well, this is one of the main reasons for such claims. The 2020 Ford Expedition will offer the base gasoline engine and an optional diesel drivetrain. Moreover, a hybrid variant is available as well.
The gasoline engine will remain a 3.5-liter EcoBoost. Moreover, this model will get a 3.0-liter PowerStroke diesel engine that can generate up to 250 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. Unfortunately, specs of the hybrid drivetrain are not available yet, even the Ford confirmed this type of engine.
2020 Ford Expedition Max
The 2020 Ford Expedition Max also comes in the same three trim levels as the regular Expedition SUV. The Max variant is even bigger and it is a full full-size SUV with room for eight passengers. It rides on the same 3.5-liter V6 engine. And while the regular model is producing up to 375 horsepower, the Platinum model is rated at 400 horses.
An all-new 10-speed transmission is standard on all trim levels, along with the all-wheel-drive setup. This model is 221.9 inches long. The base Expedition model is rated at 210.0 inches. The Expedition Max offers more high-strength steel, more weight and it can tow up to 9200 pounds.
Price and Release Date
The base 2020 Ford Expedition model will cost $52,000. XLT models are priced at $55,000, Limited at $63,000 and Platinum at $73,000. The 2020 Ford Expedition Max will arrive in the same trim levels and it will cost an additional $3,000. This full-size SUV will hit the dealerships in the last quarter of 2019.
