We already wrote about the upcoming 2019 F-150 Raptor model that saw some large improvements in the exterior department. Most importantly, the 2019 model manages to gain a new V8 engine. But what about the forthcoming 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor? The exterior design is still refreshing, a new engine is in the lineup. Ford is looking for the “one-way ticket” and hybrid drivetrain is that ticket.
As we already mentioned a couple of months ago, the 2020 F-150 Raptor will get its hybrid variant and it is finally happening. And while the second-generation of this pickup truck is present, we can expect some huge performance boost, along with the fuel economy. Moreover, the interior will get an upgrade as well.
Exterior Design
The exterior of the 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor will not largely depart from the 2019 model. Moreover, the same design language is applied on both models and the chances for any significant updates are small. Thanks to the latest dimensional changes, Raptor provides great stability and even better off-road performances. The front end host the same wide bumper and high-positioned LED headlights.
This pickup truck will ride on 17-inch wheels as before and all-terrain tires are standard. The rear end sports large tailgate with huge “FORD” lettering. Receiver hitch will be standard and Ford offers F-150 Raptor in two configurations with the shorter and longer wheelbase.
Latest Interior Changes
One of the departments where the 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor will see significant upgrades is the interior. For the start, the cabin of such a rugged pickup truck looks surprisingly comfortable and upscale. Leather seats are in the offer, along with the gorgeous suede inserts. Center console is upgraded and the moonroof is a part of standard equipment. Furthermore, leather steering wheel is standard, just like the sporty paddle shifters.
Next to the suede inserts, we can see additional carbon fiber accents as well. Raptor now sports larger and all-digital display that sits in the gauge cluster. When it comes to interior room, latest dimensional changes will improve the space inside the cabin. If you opt for the Super Crew cab variant, the rear legroom is rated at almost 44.0 inches which is still the best-in-class numbers.
Hybrid Powertrain and Mileage
After the inclusion of the all-new 7.0-liter DOHC V8 powertrain, Ford’s next move is a hybrid drivetrain. The 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor is a perfect candidate for an electrification. Unfortunately, we are yet to find out which engine will be paired with the electric motor. Perhaps its too soon for the Blue Oval carmaker to go with the new V8 engine and more likely candidate is a 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost. This unit is producing 411 hp and 434 lb-ft of torque.
With the addition of an electric motor, hybrid model will see a slight horsepower and torque improvements. But that is not the point. What is the only thing that one performance-oriented truck is missing? Yes, a fuel economy. This is why an electrification is so important to Ford. And thanks to that, we can finally see a pickup truck that will brake 30 mpg barrier.
2020 Ford F-150 Raptor Price and Release Date
The price of the all-new 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor will start between $50,000 and $60,000. We don’t know the exact pricing of the hybrid models, after all, we are still waiting for an official confirmation. This pickup truck will hit the dealerships later in 2019.
