The upcoming 2020 Ford Fusion Sport will arrive once again. Unfortunately, probably for the last time. That includes all trim levels and special versions. Fusion is now literally a “dead man walking”. Ford already provided the latest updates for the Mondeo model in Europe. Blue Oval is reducing its lineup of cars where only Mustang and Focus are safe.
Ford Fusion in Europe remains an option for now, but the 2020 Fusion in the United States is the last model we will see. Back to the Sport trim level. The 2019 Fusion Sport arrived with some significant updates. However, that didn’t go so well for the mid-size sedan. The 2020 model will be a carryover with literally zero updates.
Exterior Design and Interior Features
The mid-size sedan such as Ford Fusion is really adored by the customers. However, Ford obviously doesn’t think in that way. The 2020 Ford Fusion Sport looks even better than the base model. As its name suggests, you can find plenty of sportiness.
Body-colored features such as bumpers and door handles are standard. Also, this sedan adds LED headlights and LED fog lamps. Unlike the base model with the 17-inch wheels, Fusion Sport comes with 19-inch rollers as standard. Unfortunately, the 2020 Fusion Sport will be a carryover. That means the all-new model will look just like its predecessor.
Basically, Sport trim is the SEL-trim with a turbocharged engine. Literally, both offers are the same. Interior adds an astonishing list of standard features. That includes premium 12-speaker Sony audio system and numerous safety aids. Comfort is great thanks to the suede and leather upholstery.
2020 Ford Fusion Sport – Turbocharged V6 Engine
The forthcoming 2020 Ford Fusion Sport offers the existing 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine. This turbocharged engine comes with a 6-speed automatic SelectShift transmission. It generates 325 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. Powerful V6 returns 17 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. Unlike the rest of the trim levels, Sport trim is least fuel-friendly among them.
What’s Next for the Fusion?
Blue Oval carmaker didn’t announce the end of the Ford Fusion. However, it canceled a previously planned redesign. Canceling a redesign usually are not good news. But not necessarily. It doesn’t mean the Fusion is gone. This sedan could continue its journey in Europe. However, the United States model will be discounted.
Ford Fusion is a slow seller but it is still one of the best-selling sedans in Blue Oval kingdom. However, the market is now focused on crossovers, SUVs and pickup trucks. Simply, there is no room for regular sedans and hatchback as before. For that reason, Fusion will be gone from the American soil.
2020 Ford Fusion Sport Price and Release Date
The forthcoming 2020 Ford Fusion Sport will cost around $40,000. The base Fusion model costs $26,000. This mid-size sedan will hit the dealerships later in 2019. Some rumors are saying the 2021 model could happen, but that seems unlikely for now.
