The upcoming 2020 Ford Kuga (or Escape in the U.S.) will go on sale once again. This compact crossover will suffer some significant changes and upgrades. Latest spy shots and teaser images are showing that there will be some serious changes. Besides the hybrid drivetrain, the overall dimensions will grow. Longer C-pillar suggests a possible third row or larger cargo area.
The exterior will definitely look different and will look more upscale. The interior will more or less remain the same. A modern cabin with generous room will be in the offer and the possible third row of seats could be the only significant upgrade. Generally, a versatile compact SUV that is practical and it looks upscale.
Will 2020 Ford Kuga get three rows of seats?
Leaked spy shots of the 2020 Ford Kuga left us all in a disbelief. Longer dimensions and extended C-pillar are visible, even under the heavy camouflage. That could mean Kuga will get the third row or the cargo area will be expended. After the spy shots, some teaser images also appeared but it is still not clear what will happen with the next Kuga model. No doubt, most of the customers would like to see Ford Kuga with seven-seat configuration.
Exterior Redesign
Teaser images are suggesting that the all-new 2020 Ford Kuga will get some further exterior upgrades. For the start, fuel cap now sits on the left rear fender, a similar styling cue we saw on the new Focus IV. The rear part sports small cutouts for the pair of exhaust tips that will sit lower than before. Furthermore, the front end will get a slight redesign as well. Spy shots showed us sticking wires and a new tow hook, which could mean Ford is testing new engine. Most of the exterior will remain a mystery for now.
2020 Ford Kuga Interior Changes
The forthcoming 2020 Ford Kuga will undergo interior changes as well. Besides the possible third row of the seats or larger cargo area, new changes are very likely. One spy shot is providing a clearer picture of the interior’s front part. From what we saw, the air vents will come in a different shape and those vents will sit on top of the dash.
Engine Specs and Rumors
Next to the fact the Ford was testing its new crossover is a fact the rear part now sports new exhaust pipes. This could mean significant changes under the hood. However, Ford is keeping quiet at these types of stories. The rumors are saying the 2020 Ford Kuga will deliver better off-road capabilities so the new engine does make sense. We believe Kuga will keep its drivetrain options. That includes a 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine that provides 120 horses and 200 lb-ft of torque.
Moreover, a 2.0-liter diesel unit generates 180 hp and 240 lb-ft of twists. Both front and four-wheel-drive configurations will be in the offer. Additionally, the hybrid drivetrain will for sure arrive next year and even the Ford Kuga RS will become available in the near future. The options are numerous for the Blue Oval carmaker and we’ll have to wait and see which engine will make a production.
