Ford’s ST and GT lineup of high-performance models is looking quite impressive. We already wrote about the new Mustang Shelby GT500 model. Now, the 2020 Ford Mustang GT500 is about to arrive as well. As the first reports suggested, GT500 model will ride on a 5.2-liter V8 engine that delivers over 700 horsepower.
This engine will be mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. However, further information are not available at the moment. That includes both exterior and interior updates.
Engine Specs and Performance
The 2020 Ford Mustang GT500 will be all about performance. This supercar will arrive with a 5.2-liter V8 engine. The supercharged unit will produce over 700 horsepower as the previous reports strongly suggested. On top of that, 7-speed dual-clutch transmission will be in the offer. New Mustang GT500 will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. That means it will reach from 0 to 100 mph in 6.8 seconds.
A constant force of 1.2 Gs sounds incredible for this model. The new model will weight around 4000 pounds. Unlike the GT350 model, GT500 is all about raw power and performance. Dodge Demon will arrive with the famous Hellcat engine. It is a high mountain to reach for the GT500 model, no doubt about it. However, 700+ horses sound promising. More power and less weight will surely do wonders for the Blue Oval carmaker.
New Ford Mustang GT500 Interior Features
We still have no information about the possible exterior and interior design. No doubt, new 2020 Ford Mustang GT500 will look sporty and aggressive. We are convinced about the technology features, however. New GT500 model will introduce plenty of carbon-fiber materials, especially on the instrument panel.
Contrast stitching, faux suede leather upholstery, and racing seats are all standard. Optionally, Ford will offer amazing Recaro racing seats with side bolsters. A five-star safety rating is a must for such a powerful car. A 12-inch full-color display is another standard feature. A 12-speaker B&O sound system is optional, along with the larger 8.0-inch touchscreen.
Under the Skin
A high-performance car demands a lot of different and unique configurations under the shell. The 2020 Ford Mustang GT500 will get Brembo brake calipers. Six pistons up front and four in the back. Two-piece ventilated brake rotors are in the offer too. On top of that, Torsen differential with 3.73:1 rear-axle ration is available.
From the outside, Mustang GT500 will arrive with a premium 20-inch wheels. There will be plenty of carbon-fiber materials and aggressive front splitter is another must-have. The exclusive rear splitter should be optional.
