In order to match the upcoming competition, Blue Oval carmaker will upgrade its Super Duty lineup. The rivals such as Chevy Silverado HD and Ram Heavy Duty are all getting major updates and the Blue Oval carmaker will follow the same path. Unfortunately, most of the changes aren’t visible as the 2020 Ford Super Duty lineup was spotted wearing heavy camouflage.
However, the spy shots are showing some visible exterior changes and the rumors are saying the new powertrain could arrive. Latest speculations are saying there will be some changes in trim levels as well. The interior will get minor updates only, just enough to keep technology features up to date.
Exterior Facelift
Even under the camouflage, some upgrades on the 2020 Ford Super Duty are clearly visible. The front fascia will suffer the most. We can expect more sculpted front grille that will keep its current dimensions and shape. However, we don’t know if the twin-bar design will be present when this lineup arrives.
New headlights design is in the offer and the rear will get slightly different taillights. Generally, the goal is to deliver more modern exterior design, which will Ford deliver for sure. The rest of the exterior will probably get further changes, but they aren’t visible at the moment.
Interior Updates
Inside the cabin, we can expect the same design and treatments as on the current 2019 model. The photographs aren’t showing interior design at all, but we can expect at least technology updates. That includes an updated version of the infotainment system and Co-Pilot 360 safety system will probably make the production.
We don’t know if this safety tech will come as standard. However, the list of standard equipment is astonishing and optional features could create a luxurious interior with ease. Leather seats with massaging options, larger displays and much more are all optional. No matter if you opt for the F-250, F-350 or F-450 model, the interior design will surely please you.
2020 Ford Super Duty Gets New Powertrain
Blue Oval carmaker will ditch the ancient 6.8-liter Triton V10. Instead of V10, Ford is willing to introduce a more efficient 7.0-liter V8. This powertrain can generate up to 288 horses and 424 lb-ft of torque. Next to that, an existing 6.7-liter V8 turbodiesel engine will still remain optional. However, this engine will be slightly re-tuned and will receive around additional 15 lb-ft of torque.
With this update, the 2020 Ford Super Duty will produce 450 hp and 950 lb-ft of torque. Ford is claiming the new V8 engine will deliver much better efficiency and better fuel economy, but we’ll have to wait for official figures.
Better Tow Rating
The new engine will deliver better efficiency, however, if you want to use the 2020 Ford Super Duty truck for towing and hauling, opt for the diesel variant. As we mentioned, a 6.7-liter V8 got small torque boost which will improve the tow rating. The current model can tow 33,000 pounds and the upcoming model will offer at least $34,000. Not only the new setups will improve tow rating, but it will also improve the overall off-road capabilities.
2020 Ford Super Duty Release Date and Price
The forthcoming 2020 Ford Super Duty lineup will make its debut later in 2019 before it goes on sale at the beginning of 2020. The pricing is still a mystery, but we can expect a slight price increase.
