The forthcoming 2020 Lincoln MKC brings us the huge news. This crossover will get a redesign and it will arrive under a new name. The MKC model will become Lincoln Corsair and it will bring plenty of new features and styling cues. The company is slowly turning its focus on crossovers and SUVs as the sedans are abandoned. We already wrote about the 2020 Lincoln MKZ. This sedan faces uncertain future and it could also arrive under the new name.
Moving focus from sedans onto crossovers means that every Lincoln’s crossover will get numerous upgrades. We had an opportunity to see latest spy shots of the 2020 MKC and some changes are more than notable. We are not sure about the powertrain options and the Black Label variant will arrive for sure.
Exterior Redesign and Spy Shots
The all-new 2020 Lincoln MKC will arrive with some significant changes. The test mule was spotted under some camouflage but most of the changes are visible. For an instance, most of the features are taken from the Aviator model.
The front fenders and side mirrors are exactly the same. Moreover, the rear end sports taillights that aretaken from the Aviator model. The same stands for the rear bumper. Some further upgrades will happen for sure as the 2020 MKC enters the new generation.
2020 Lincoln MKC Gets Completely New Name
This is the proof that Lincoln’s strategy will happen in the near future. The company is replacing all of the “MK” models with more attractive names that are easier to remember. The upcoming 2020 Lincoln MKC will arrive under the name “Corsair”. However, the name isn’t brand-new as some previous model carried the same name.
A Ford Corsair was present from 1963 to 1970 and Phantom Corsair was a concept from 1938. On the other hand, it is interesting to see how Lincoln already offers Navigator and Aviator models. Classic names that reminds us of the World War II, and now we have a Corsair, a pirate ship.
Possible engine options
Latest news are saying the 2020 Lincoln MKC will get a four-cylinder turbo EcoBoost drivetrain. On top of that, this engine will include both front and four-wheel-drive configurations. However, we still don’t know how large the engine will be and what numbers will bring in. On the other hand, there is a good chance for MKC to keep its existing drivetrain.
It is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 240 horses and 270 lb-ft of torque. Another mystery is if this crossover SUV will get any sort of electrification. The hybrid drivetrain is a possibility and the new generation is a perfect occasion for Lincoln to deliver this system.
2020 Lincoln MKC Black Label
As in the previous years, new 2020 Lincoln MKC will also offer its range-topping Black Label trim. We are not sure if the Black Label will also come under a different name. This variant is extremely popular as it brings unique exterior and interior design.
The price is not affordable but the Black Label makes premium crossover even more premium. And while the base MKC or “Corsair” model will arrive later in 2019, Black Label will hit the markets in the first half of 2020.
Like navigator and aviator, corsair is also an aeronautical reference.
