According to the latest reports, new 2021 Ford Bronco Sport will join the company’s lineup of SUVs and crossovers. This model is on its way and it will arrive as a small SUV, designed to rival Jeep Compass and Renegade models. Interestingly, Bronco Sport will use the same architecture that underpins the Ford Escape.
As for the engine, the Sport variant will borrow an engine from the regular Bronco model. It will also borrow its boxy appearance but Ford will surely deliver more off-road bits. Most likely, we will see a four-door version with a removable roof panel. There will be four trim levels and Bronco Sport will go on sale later this year.
2021 Bronco Sport Exterior Design
As everyone expected, new 2021 Ford Bronco Sport will arrive with a boxy shape and round headlights. Jeep is doing exactly the same thing so we can’t say the arriving SUV will be unique. The front fascia sports a simple grille design with slightly larger openings than on the regular model. Sport version will also arrive with a new beltline that provides better visibility.
The platform that underpins the Escape model will underpin the new Bronco Sport. However, body panels are not taken from Escape. Instead, Blue Oval manufacturer will offer brand-new and more unique panels. Overall, it is a unibody SUV with four doors and a removable sunroof. Styling is slightly more aggressive and sportier over the standard Bronco.
Trim Levels and Colors
The upcoming 2021 Ford Bronco Sport will become available in four trim levels. Ford didn’t surprise us at all as the trim levels are: S, SE, SEL, and Titanium. Of course, the manufacturer will provide the First Edition model, like with the Mustang Mach-E crossover. Some reports are suggesting an unnamed trim level. We know that the regular Bronco will arrive with unique trims such as Outer Banks and Big Bend.
As for the exterior paints, Bronco Sport will offer a wide palette of colors. Alto Blue Metallic, Area 51, Cactus Gray, and Carbonized Gray are just some of the paints on the list. On top of that, Ford offers Iconic Silver, Cyber Orange, Rapid Red Metallic, and Shadow Black.
Engine Lineup Borrowed From Ford Escape
The leaked guide shows the new 2021 Ford Bronco Sport with Escape’s engine lineup. That means the base model will use a 1.5-liter three-cylinder powerplant. This turbocharged engine provides 180 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque.
Moreover, a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder is an optional engine. It can deliver 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of twists. Both engines will use the same eight-speed automatic transmission. Unlike Escape, Bronco Sport will offer a standard AWD system. Of course, nothing is official yet but this engine lineup makes perfect sense in our opinion.
2021 Ford Bronco Sport Release Date and Price
The sales of the new 2021 Ford Bronco Sport were planned for April 2020. However, the Coronavirus outbreak caused a delay so expect this SUV to debut around June. That also means the sales will start later in 2020. As for the price, Bronco Sport will cost around $40,000 or slightly above that.
