Ford is introducing the all-new pickup truck. The 2021 Ford Courier will arrive later next year. This compact pickup will arrive with a fresh design. Blue Oval is returning the “Courier” name that was discounted in 2002 in Europe. However, this name was present in South America until 2013. First spy photos are available and Ford prepared a few surprises for its customers.
Courier will be available in two and four-door variants. Also, there will be two bed lengths. Thanks to numerous cab configurations, you can opt for one or two rows of seating. The 2021 Courier is currently under production in Mexico.
Body Styles and Dimensions
The upcoming 2021 Ford Courier is a compact pickup truck. It will be available in single cab style with two doors and Super Crew Cab with four doors. Whatsoever, customers can opt for a regular or longer bed. Courier will ride on the new Ford’s front-wheel-drive platform.
For instance, the current Focus model rides on the same architecture. The 2021 Courier will be around 185 inches long. It will wear a new Ford’s design that will be available on all new company’s models. This pickup will slot below the mid-size Ranger model.
2021 Ford Courier Spy Photos
First spy photos are showing us some interesting things. The 2021 Ford Courier will wear the same styling you can find on the Focus and Escape models. Even the ride height is similar to the Focus hatchback. Small pickup will arrive with the raked windshield. We still can’t confirm the rumors about the independent rear suspension.
Blue Oval did promise superb handling and overall driving dynamics. Design is far from robust and Courier won’t be off-road capable. The whole body is under heavy camouflage, especially the rear end. It looks interesting, and the rear part looks closer to the minivan. However, that won’t be the case. As a matter of fact, Ford was probably testing overall payload.
Engine Rumors
On the same spy shots, we easily spotted a dual exhaust system. This is a clear suggestion that we are dealing with the turbocharged unit. However, exact information is not available yet. The 2021 Ford Courier will most likely ride on the 2.0-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost engine. This unit is producing 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. It can be found under the hood of the Ford Edge. This turbo engine will be optional. More importantly, it provides more than enough power for a compact pickup.
The standard engine is still a mystery. The most likely candidate is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine from the Ford Escape. Under the Escape’s bonnet, this engine is generating 168 hp and 170 lb-ft of twist. A hybrid variant is a possibility, knowing the Blue Oval’s plans for the future. However, it is too soon to talk about this topic. Whatsoever, the 2021 Courier will most likely offer an 8-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel-drive setup will be standard and the all-wheel-drive system comes as an option.
