The upcoming 2021 Ford Edge ST could arrive with a complete redesign. Of course, this is not official yet but the latest reports are strongly suggesting drastic changes on this SUV. As before, Edge ST will remain a high-performance SUV with plenty of sportiness and a room for five passengers. The price will start at above $40k and it is the fastest non-premium SUV in the world.
The Blue Oval manufacturer could improve that for 2021 but the focus will be on the styling and additional tech inside the cabin. Fans have plenty of reasons to be excited and here’s what we know about the arriving Edge ST.
Exterior Facelift
As you know, Ford discounted the Sport trim level. Instead, ST variant returned and it instantly gained huge success. The 2021 Ford Edge ST will suffer a couple of refinements. However, the upgrades are far from significant. ST provides lower stance and sportier appearance. It looks attractive and it adds some unique elements. This model is full of body-colored features and LED lights. On top of that, Blue Oval manufacturer highlighted the ST Performance Brake Package on its official website.
That means you can get new ST with 21-inch premium gloss black-painted aluminum wheels. Moreover, front and rear vented discs are available and are painted in Colorado Red color. Brake calipers, radiator cooling fan and summer-only tires are offered as standard. New model will get better aerodynamics and it will introduce retuned suspension setup.
2021 Edge ST Interior Equipment
The all-new 2021 Ford Edge ST will introduce more standard equipment than the base trim level. However, this sporty SUV offers a lot of optional equipment too. That includes floor liners, heated steering wheel and numerous driver-assistance aids. As for the standard features, we’d like to mention ambient lighting and push-button start features.
On top of that, ST variant comes with a standard Compass, remote start system and leather upholstery. However, the highlight is the ST bolstered bucket seats with City Silver contrast stitching. The interior looks very eye-catching and you will find a lot of ST badged on the inside. As before, Ford Edge ST offers a room for five passengers.
Engine Specs
The base model still uses a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine. However, the forthcoming 2021 Ford Edge St deploys a reliable 2.7-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 output. This engine comes with a standard eight-speed automatic transmission. Moreover, AWD system has been offered as standard. Powerful V6 can produce 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque.
With these figures, Edge ST is the fastest SUV in the non-premium segment. It also provides 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. Lastly, Edge ST sprints from 0 to 60 mph in less than six seconds. Its top speed has been rated at 130 mph.
2021 Ford Edge ST Price and Release Date
The price of the all-new 2021 Ford Edge ST will start at $44,000. This high-performance SUV will most likely go on sale later in 2020. It was supposed to arrive earlier but the Coronavirus outbreak forced Ford to reschedule its plans.
