Large SUVs are popular like never before. The upcoming 2021 Ford Expedition Diesel is one such a model that will catch instant attention. It is one of the versatile SUVs that are offering everything you need. Expedition is a great model for plenty of reasons. The new model will gain even more upgrades, and it is available with both diesel and gasoline engines.
However, diesel is a more popular variant. The reason for that is the better towing capacity and better fuel economy ratings. However, diesel won’t depart from the regular gasoline model in any other way. Here’s what to expect from the 2021 Expedition diesel.
2021 Expedition Diesel Gets Small Visual Changes
The 2021 Ford Expedition Diesel is not a premium SUV. However, it is the best alternative for premium SUVs such as Lincoln Navigator. For 2021, Expedition will get a small facelift. This SUV will ride on the same platform, and it will remain 210 inches long. There is an Expedition MAX version that is 12 inches longer.
Expedition Diesel does not depart from the regular gasoline-powered Expedition. For 2021, Ford will deliver small changes in terms of styling. New exterior colors are a possibility, and Blue Oval will return the famous King Ranch trim level. Expedition SUV will wear more chrome trims than before, and some exterior features are larger now.
Interior Gets More High-Tech Features
On the inside, the 2021 Ford Expedition Diesel will gain more features. The customers can choose between a seven-seat and eight-seats configurations. The interior already looks fresh, and it offers plenty of standard equipment. Expedition is a roomy SUV, and that includes legroom and cargo area. The base trim level will provide features such as three-zone climate control, keyless entry and a rearview camera.
New Kink Ranch trim will offer upscale leather upholstery and more chrome accents. Ford will slightly reshape air vents, and the dashboard now looks cleaner. Lastly, the Expedition will gain more driver-assistance aids for better safety ratings.
Expedition Diesel Could Get Improved Towing Capacity
The forthcoming 2021 Ford Expedition Diesel will arrive with a 3.0-liter V6 Powerstroke engine. This diesel variant is capable of producing 250 horsepower. Moreover, it can deliver 460 lb-ft of torque, which is more than enough. The Blue Oval manufacturer could improve towing capacity by providing slightly more torque.
Current gasoline model tows up to 9,200 pounds at its best. Now, Expedition Diesel will arrive with a towing capacity that has been rated at over 12,000 pounds. This powertrain also delivers 21mpg combined, which is a solid figure. Besides diesel, Expedition will continue to offer the same 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine. The novelty could be a hybrid variant, but this is not confirmed yet.
2021 Ford Expedition Diesel Release Date and Price
You can get a new 2021 Ford Expedition Diesel for around $56,000. This is a small jump in price over the outgoing model, but we’d recommend Expedition SUV to anyone.
The sales will start later this year, most likely in November. Lastly, King Ranch trim level will make its return and Expedition MAX variant can also be had with the diesel powertrain.
