Ford released the latest updates to its medium-duty trucks. The 2021 Ford F-650 model is on its way, and Blue Oval plans to provide further interior updates. On the other hand, the exterior design should largely remain. Ford F-650 and F-750 models are the only Class 6 and Class 7 trucks that are offering both gasoline and diesel engines. However, the 2021 model won’t be significantly upgraded.
Everything about this model already looks refreshed and modern. For that reason, we don’t expect anything innovative. The interior will get more tech, while the truck’s price will remain intact. The sales will begin in the coming months, and here’s everything you need to know about the new medium-duty work truck.
Ford F-650 Facelift
The upcoming 2021 Ford F-650 truck will be a carryover in terms of design. The arriving model comes with a good-looking front fascia, and even the side profile is surprisingly sharp and modern. Ford will offer the same headlights and the front grille that are available on the outgoing model. Most of the styling cues are taken from the F-150 variant, and it is a good thing.
Some rumors are predicting new exterior paints for 2021, and that would be cool to see. Ford will provide automatic headlamps as standard, and auto high-beam headlights will be optional. Overall, the changes are minor, and all of the trim levels should get the same treatment.
Interior Updates
On the inside, the new 2021 Ford F-650 will get more standard equipment. Moreover, the instrument panel is updated as well. Blue Oval will provide a new steering column and a new steering wheel. As for the standard equipment, Ford will deliver Bluetooth, AM/FM radio, and USB ports. According to Ford, the interior will be closer to the cabin of the Super Duty trucks.
That also includes the ride quality and level of comfort. While Ford’s Medium Duty trucks are meant for commercial use, the automaker will largely focus on safety. Thanks to that, the F-650 truck will get an updated Co-Pilot360 suite. This model will, from now on, offer hill start assist, traction control, adaptive cruise control, and electronic stability control systems.
Engine Specifications, Transmission
The engine lineup consists of a new 7.3-liter gasoline engine and a 6.7-liter V8 diesel. As we said, F-650 and F-750 trucks are the only medium-duty models that are offering both gasoline and diesel powertrain options. No matter which engine you opt for, a 6-speed TorqShift automatic transmission is offered. The gasoline engine can produce 430 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. Potent V8 is more powerful than the previous unit that it replaces.
As for the diesel powertrain, Ford offers three different power ratings. The first one is rated at 270 hp and 700 lb-ft of torque. The second one is optional, and it delivers 300 horses and 725 lb-ft of twists. Lastly, there is a third output that generates 330 hp and up to 750 lb-ft of torque.
2021 Ford F-650 Cost and Arrival Date
The price of the new 2021 Ford F-650 will cost slightly below $60,000. There are so many trim levels and configurations that you can choose, and the range-topping variant will cost over $70,000. Ford’s medium-duty truck lineup will be released by the end of the year.
