The upcoming 2021 Ford Fiesta RS will arrive in Europe by the end of the year. Ford will deliver a couple of refreshments, but Fiesta’s future is not so bright. According to the latest reports, the next-gen 2022 Fiesta RS won’t be produced. That means the 2021 variant is the last model before the end of the production. The reasons for such a radical move are obvious.
The population is turning to crossovers and SUVs. Simply, there is no room for sedans and hatchbacks as before. The automotive industry can be harsh, sometimes. If the sales are low, the model will be discounted, and Fiesta RS is a perfect example. Still, the 2021 Fiesta RS will bring a couple of novelties, so let’s find out what is new.
2021 Fiesta RS Gets Mid-Cycle Facelift
The all-new 2021 Ford Fiesta RS will get small visual updates. Generally, the RS variant is slightly more aggressive than the ST model. Fiesta RS comes with more sportiness, including the exhaust system. Furthermore, the 2021 Fiesta RS will get a modified grille and a more prominent diffuser.
The bumpers are also more aggressive, and alloy wheels will be lighter than the current rims. Fiesta’s short rear will remain intact, along with impressive aerodynamics.
Interior Refreshments
Like the exterior, the interior of the 2021 Ford Fiesta RS will be one step ahead of the Fiesta ST version. The RS model is available with a flat-bottom steering wheel and an impressive Recaro sports seats. Everything about the cabin is sporty and modern. A new LCD screen is available, and it sits on the dashboard.
The new screen provides simpler menus and is easier to operate. Fiesta RS will continue to offer the latest phone integrations and updated SYNC3 infotainment system. We should expect more driver-assistance aids as well. However, more precise details are yet to be announced.
Engine Specs
The forthcoming 2021 Ford Fiesta RS will arrive with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine. The EcoBoost unit is offered as standard, and it will produce 197 hp and 215 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, this engine will gain more power, up to 40 horsepower, for 2021. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder is optional engine choice, and it generates 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. With an optional engine, Fiesta RS accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds.
What About Fiesta RS Hybrid?
According to multiple reliable reports, new 2021 Ford Focus RS Hybrid won’t happen. The 2022 Fiesta RS was planned to mark the beginning of the new generation. The hybrid powertrain was a part of the plans, but things changed in the meantime. A performance-oriented hybrid car sounds great. On top of that, this car could meet the European emissions standards.
However, sales of the Fiesta are getting lower and lower. For that reason, Blue Oval carmaker will discount this model in the near future. As we already said, the 2021 Fiesta RS is the last model of the generation and probably the previous model generally.
2021 Ford Fiesta RS Price and Release Date
The price of the new 2021 Ford Fiesta RS will start at almost $30,000. It is more than the ST variant, but RS is a more impressive model in nearly every category. The arriving hatchback won’t be sold in the United States. However, it will be sold in Europe, and it will hit the dealerships in the first quarter of 2021.
