The upcoming 2021 Ford Focus Compact Pickup Truck is official. Ford will sell it in Australia, but the US should get this model later in 2021. The manufacturer confirmed a Focus-based pickup truck a couple of weeks ago. It is a compact model that will be built in Mexico. According to the first predictions, Blue Oval will produce around 100,000 units in the first year.
The customers should expect a lot of SUV-like styling cues and features. However, most of the things will be taken from the Ford Focus. That also includes powertrain options and other mechanics. The price will be affordable, and it should start below $20,000.
2021 Focus Pickup Truck Design
The all-new 2021 Ford Focus Compact Truck will ride on the same platform as the small Focus car. It is too early to speculate about pickup’s dimensions, but it will be a compact model for sure. Most likely, Ford will offer single and dual-cab body styles. As we said, most of the exterior parts are SUV-like, and some other cues will be taken from the Focus car. Spy shots are available, and the truck has been spotted with black body cladding.
The heavy camouflage perfectly hides some of the parts. For example, the cargo bed is a complete mystery. A longer wheelbase is visible, and the front fascia looks distinctive. Dimensionally, Focus truck will slot below mid-size Ford Ranger. The platform will support the AWD system, but the hybrid powertrain is not an option.
Engine Possibilities
According to reliable reports, the new 2021 Ford Focus Truck will offer both 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter turbocharged engines. The all-wheel-drive setup will be optional, while a new pickup truck should arrive with a standard front-wheel-drive configuration. A 1.5-liter turbo engine comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Moreover, it can produce around 200 horsepower.
We can’t say if the Blue Oval will look to re-tune this powertrain option in order to deliver more power. A diesel engine is a possibility, but only for the Australian markets. The US-spec Focus Pickup Truck won’t offer diesel powertrain. Moreover, a hybrid version is also unlikely to happen. Ford will release further details closer to the launch date.
2021 Ford Focus Pickup Truck Release Date and Price
According to numerous reports, the production will start in Mexico. The car-based ute will go on sale in the first quarter of 2021. Moreover, the 2021 Ford Focus Compact Pickup Truck will reach American soil later in 2021. The price will start at $20,000 or slightly below that. The goal is to deliver a sub-Ranger pickup that will be affordable.
Whatsoever, it will cost 20-percent less than the mid-size Ranger pickup. Codenamed P758, a new Focus pickup truck will get a right-hand drive, which makes it eligible for Australia. Some other reports are also suggesting for this model to arrive in Brazil. Its name could depart from the “Focus” idea, and Blue Oval will produce 100,000 examples in the first year of the production.
