New 2021 Ford Galaxy is going on sale in Europe later this year. According to the latest reports, Blue Oval manufacturer will invest a lot of money into the production of Galaxy and S-Max models. The highlight of 2021 is a new hybrid powertrain. New Galaxy will be produced in Spain, and Ford will make a new plant for the production of batteries.
Ford Kuga is the brand’s most popular model in Europe, and it will greatly impact the new Galaxy minivan. Thanks to that, Galaxy could gain similar or the same hybrid system. As for conventional engines, nothing will change. Moreover, Galaxy will host minor facelift, and the interior will gain a couple of high-tech updates.
2021 Galaxy Hybrid
As we already mentioned, the 2021 Ford Galaxy will get its first hybrid version. Moreover, this minivan will feature both hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants. Ford will use the same setup that is currently present in Ford Kuga. That means Galaxy will deploy a 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle four-cylinder engine. A 48V electric motor is available, along with the battery pack.
The batteries will be placed beneath the floor, and this minivan will use a standard front-wheel-drive setup. On top of that, the Blue Oval will offer an eight-speed automatic transmission. In terms of performance, the 2021 Galaxy Hybrid will produce around 200 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque. We are still waiting for Ford to release exact specs, including the all-electric range.
Ford Galaxy Changes
The upcoming 2021 Ford Galaxy will provide a couple of exciting refreshments. The arriving minivan will arrive with reshaped headlights and taillights. Unlike C-Max that offers both five-seat and seven-seats configurations, Galaxy remains a seven-seater exclusively. The new model will gain better aerodynamics, and the vehicle’s weight will be reduced.
The interior will get some new high-tech amenities. The larger display is new, but it will be optional. That means a 7-inch touchscreen remains standard in the base trim level. Lastly, Blue Oval automaker will introduce the latest driver-assistance aids and more standard equipment.
Engine Specs
The forthcoming 2021 Ford Galaxy will continue to offer its 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine as standard. This engine is able to produce 160 horses. Optionally, a 2.0-liter generates up to 240 horsepower. A diesel engine will be in the offer as well, and it will deliver 150 hp.
This 2.0-liter TDCi powertrain offers another output that is good for 180 horsepower and a higher level of torque. As you can see, only Galaxy Hybrid will feature a larger 2.5-liter engine that is available in Ford Kuga crossover SUV.
2021 Ford Galaxy Release Date and Price
The production of the new 2021 Ford Galaxy will start in Spain. According to the latest reports, this minivan will become available in Europe by the end of the year. The price is not available yet, but we don’t expect a significant price increase.
On the other hand, Galaxy Hybrid will cost closer to $40,000. Galaxy is just one of the fourteen Ford’s models in Europe that will get some type of electrification. However, an all-electric variant is not on the cards, unfortunately.
