The next 2021 Ford Ranger Hybrid is in the works. The mid-size pickup truck will finally get its first plug-in hybrid option. It could be a game-changer for Blue Oval and its globally famous pickup. Ranger Hybrid will arrive in Australia, but the US-spec model will also become available soon. The plug-in hybrid setup is built around a 2.3-liter EcoBoost unit.
Interestingly, Ford Everest that is available in Australia, features almost the same system. Besides that, the latest details that have leaked online are telling us more about the new design. Moreover, the interior details are available as well. Ranger will get a couple of exciting upgrades, and a hybrid version will feature the same type of updates.
2021 Ranger Hybrid Facelift
New 2021 Ford Ranger Hybrid has been spied a couple of months ago. The photos are showing the latest changes, but some exterior parts are still not visible. The mid-size pickup truck will arrive with various visual changes and updates. For a start, the front part comes with two enlarged chrome bars and the rectangular grille. A similar design can be found on the F-150 pickup truck. C-shaped headlamps are visible under the camouflage too.
The same headlights are wrapping around the horizontal grille bars. Squared fog lights are looking nice, and the hood definitely looks more aggressive. The chrome bumper is available with two vertical elements that are also larger. The styling is modern, but the vehicle’s shape remains blocky. The fender flares are looking boxier than before, and the rear fascia will get large RANGER lettering on the tailgate. The emblem is moved higher, and it looks like the rear bumper remains intact.
Interior Updates
The interior of the new 2021 Ford Ranger Hybrid is similar to the new Ford Everest SUV. You can find plenty of similar cues and features. However, Ranger is a pickup truck, so the interior is more practical and less technology-oriented. Still, Ranger offers a modern cabin with plenty of tech. The new dashboard is in the works, and Ranger will arrive with a new infotainment system.
A diagonal 12.8-inch touchscreen is the same unit that you can find in the F-150 pickup truck. The media center is impressive, and another 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster is also available. New upholstery is a possibility, and Ranger will definitely host new shapes and design cues. Lastly, the Blue Oval will improve safety by delivering the latest driver-assistance aids.
Engine Specs, MPG, Transmission
The forthcoming 2021 Ford Ranger Hybrid will get a new T6 body-on-frame structure. The platform is perfect for a plug-in hybrid system. Moreover, the same platform underpins the Ford Everest model. A 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine will be combined with a hybrid setup, and it will produce 360 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. On the other hand, Australian Ranger Hybrid will offer a different system for sure.
After all, the EcoBoost engine is not available in the Land Down Under. A new ten-speed automatic transmission is available, but this is everything we know right now. The Blue Oval automaker will release more details closer to the launch date. We are especially interested in fuel economy figures, all-electric driving range and towing capacity.
2021 Ford Ranger Hybrid Price and Release Date
The price of the 2021 Ford Ranger Hybrid will start at around $38,000. However, don’t be surprised if the price goes over $40k. The mid-size pickup truck will reach the markets in the first quarter of 2021. On top of that, Ranger will go on sale in Australia, possibly in the first quarter of 2021 as well.
