The all-new 2021 Ford Ranger Wildtrak will go on sale in Australia by the end of the year. However, this version won’t reach American soil. The customers in the U.S. will get a famous Raptor model. As for the Wildtrak, it will probably represent one of the range-topping trim levels.
It will be based on the Limited trim and it will add a couple of special features. That includes additional off-road equipment and a standard 4×4 system. The 2022 Ranger Wildtrak will arrive in a Double Cab configuration and it will be a very capable off-roading pickup truck. The sales will start in the last quarter of 2020.
2021 Ranger Wildtrak Features
The upcoming 2021 Ford Ranger Wildtrak will introduce a long list of equipment. As we said, Ford will build new Wildtrak around the Limited trim level and it will provide more off-road equipment. That includes larger 18-inch wheels. To compare, other variants are offering 17-inch rims. The front fascia hosts more chrome accents and it comes with unique headlights.
Body steps and new skid plates are available as well. The interior will get a new infotainment system while the 8-inch touchscreen will be offered as standard. Wildtrak offers Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and other modern amenities, just like Ranger Limited. On the other hand, ambient lighting, new voice controls, and other high-tech equipment are in the offer.
Engine Specs
Under the bonnet, 2021 Ford Ranger Wildtrak will deploy a diesel powertrain. It is a 3.2-liter V6 with over 200 horses and up to 470 lb-ft of torque. Ford will also offer a six-speed automatic transmission. Fans in Australia are hoping to see a manual gearbox for a better off-road experience. A 4×4 system will be offered as standard which should significantly improve the off-road capabilities.
The start/stop system comes as standard but it will only work with manual transmission. To compare, regular Ranger is using a smaller 2.2-liter diesel, while the customers in the U.S. will get a gasoline powertrain.
Modern and Aggressive Styling
The arriving mid-size pickup truck will look more aggressive than the base trim level. The 2021 Ford Ranger Wildtrak will get a mid-cycle facelift and it will look exciting. Aesthetically, Wildtrak will offer different riding height and better aerodynamics.
Overall, the pickup is safer thanks to the improved stability and its wider stance. Moreover, the Blue Oval will introduce additional safety aids. The main competitor is Toyota Hilux, but special versions of the VW Amarok and Nissan Navara could also join the race.
2021 Ford Ranger Wildtrak Price and Launch Date
The price of the new 2021 Ford Ranger Wildtrak should start at around $40,000. It costs significantly above the base trim level, but this is an off-road variant with improved performances. The sales will start in the last quarter of 2020, in Australia.
