Blue Oval manufacturer clearly plans to make a significant impact on the EV market. The latest addition is a new 2021 Ford Transit. This van will get its first all-electric powertrain. On the other hand, you can still buy a model with a conventional gasoline engine. Transit will go on sale in 2021 and it will become available in the United States and Canada.
Additionally, 2021 Transit will gain a significant boost in terms of technology. That also includes numerous safety and driver-assistance systems. Unfortunately, Ford is yet to announce the exact battery size, range, and similar details.
2021 Transit Exterior Redesign
When it comes to exterior design, the new 2021 Ford Transit is about to get serious updates. The goal is to deliver a more modern appearance worth of an electric vehicle. This cargo van will stick to its roots. That means larger proportions and boxy shape will largely remain. The front fascia will look more distinctive thanks to the latest improvements.
That includes modified hexagonal grille and new chrome bars. The headlights have been finished in different shape and generally, the front part is very modern. The biggest addition is the all-electric powertrain. Blue Oval plans to introduce EV models in every possible segment and 2021 Ford Transit EV is the perfect answer. Unfortunately, more precise details are yet to be announced. There is still a lot of rumors about this version. For instance, the first reports are predicting a similar configuration to the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and its 55kWh battery pack. Some other rumors are strongly suggesting a 90kW electric motor with an even larger battery.
Overall, Ford could introduce a couple of different versions where the base variant provides 123 miles of driving range. As for the regular model, Transit with 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine will remain. This gasoline powertrain comes with 10-speed automatic transmission and it can produce 211 hp. Moreover, this cargo van will generate 369 lb-ft of torque. European version comes with a 2.4-liter diesel engine.
2021 Ford Transit Price and Release Date
The price of the all-new 2021 Ford Transit will surely increase. That means the upcoming model will cost slightly below $40,000. Blue Oval is yet to release exact details about the all-electric variant and that also includes the price.
