The 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor is another exciting variant that we should be seeing later this year. Bronco returns as a family of off-road models, but the Raptor model is what excites us the most. Firstly, Blue Oval revealed two-door and four-door Broncos. On top of that, Bronco Sport is also in the works. However, Ford is not done and Bronco Raptor is also confirmed.
This model could arrive under the “Warthog” name. First spy photos are available and we could spot a lot of similarities with the Ranger Raptor truck. We expect numerous mechanical upgrades, sportier exterior design, and much more. The sales will begin at some point in the second half of 2021.
2022 Bronco Raptor Spy Shots
As we said, the first spy photos of the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor are already available. For a start, the Raptor variant is recognizable by large “FORD” lettering on the grille. You can see it easily under the camouflage. Some parts are hard to spot, but c-shaped headlights are another visible novelty. The front fascia will look more upright, but the goal is to deliver an SUV with a sportier stance and more aggressive design.
The skid plates are also available, so we are definitely dealing with the Bronco Raptor model. Higher ride and chunkier tires are other recognizable cues. We are waiting for the heavy camouflage to come off so we can provide more info about Bronco Raptor and its exterior design.
Possible Engine Lineup
At this moment, the most powerful engine that is announced is a 2.7-liter turbo-six with 310 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. However, the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor will generate even more. On the other hand, we don’t know yet which engine will power the upcoming high-performance SUV. There are a couple of candidates, such as the 3.0-liter turbo-six that also powers the Explorer ST.
On top of that, there is a 3.5-liter turbo-six from the F-150 pickup truck. This 3.5-liter output is the most likely candidate as it develops 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. The less potent variant of this powertrain option provides 375 horses and 470 lb-ft of twisting power.
Mechanical Upgrades
Like any other Raptor, this one will also provide a lot of upgrades beneath the shell. The 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor will reportedly get a beefier suspension and larger tires. On top of that, Blue Oval is working on new Beadlock-capable wheels, most likely 17-inch units. 35-inch off-road tires are available, along with the unique off-road suspension and Bilstein shocks.
The spy photos are showing orange shocks. We assume this is an electronically controlled bypass shocks, most likely Fox 3.0. The same shocks can be found in the F-150 Raptor model and the shocks are available with active damping and external bypass.
2022 Ford Bronco Raptor Price, Release Date
The price of the all-new 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor will start at around $61,000. Remember, this is not official, more like a wild guess by some reliable reports. The sales should begin later this year, but some other reports are predicting the first quarter of 2022. Lastly, Bronco Raptor could arrive under the name “Bronco Warthog.”
