One of the most famous cop cars could make a comeback. The 2022 Ford Crown Victoria is reportedly making a huge return. This time, with numerous upgrades. Unfortunately, the Ford Crown Victoria was discounted some time ago, and the final Crown Victoria Police Interceptors left on the road are starting to thin out in retirement.
It truly is the end of an era and a sad fact in our SUV and crossover-obsessed society. However, Ford could revive its famous nameplate, but not in the United States, unfortunately. Still, it is great to hear that the iconic police car will go on sale in some parts of the world. Without further ado, here’s everything you need to know about Crown Vic.
2022 Crown Victoria Renderings
Surprisingly, the rendering images are based on the last-generation Ford Taurus rather than a Crown Victoria. Of course, this is not a reliable source of information. However, it gives us an idea of how the new 2022 Ford Crown Victoria could look. It comes with all standard Police Interceptor extras, such as recognizable wheels, a push bar, and blue and red lighting elements.
However, rather than blacking out all of the chrome, part of it remains. The front and back doors are unique, along with the coupe-inspired roof. Still, this is a modern sedan with a thicker rear pillar. New Crown Vic will wear cameras and plenty of modern systems. Anyway, it is a massive departure from the previous generation.
Under the Hood
As for the performances, the 2022 Ford Crown Victoria is a complete mystery. The previous version only had one engine option. Blue Oval now boasts EcoBoost technology and a handful of fantastic engine options. The majority of Ford’s engines might be used in the 2022MY. Some speculate that bigger V8 engines will be used. That is doubtful, and Blue Oval will very certainly choose the smaller and more efficient output.
Furthermore, the turbocharged engine should be reserved for upper trim levels or some sort of a Crown Vic special edition. For the time being, the most likely contender is a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine with 240 horsepower. For instance, Ford is unlikely to build a whole new powerplant. An eight-speed automatic gearbox is in use and Crown Victoria will use a standard front-wheel-drive configuration.
Interior Details
The previous second-generation model has a stunning interior design. Now, the 2022 Ford Crown Victoria will be the third-generation model, and it will introduce a comprehensive interior redesign. We can only hope that the 2022MY will take some lessons from the previous generation. Overall, we all anticipate quality interiors and excellent design.
According to recent sources, a new and more simplistic interior design is in the works. Blue Oval will provide a cabin that is comparable to that seen in the company’s most recent crossovers. Comfort is not an issue, and Ford will almost certainly add a couple of trim levels. However, specifics are yet to be announced. As before, there will be room for five people inside the cabin.
2022 Ford Crown Victoria Release Date, Price
At this moment, we don’t know if the 2022 Ford Crown Victoria will be available for purchase. Reportedly, it won’t and the new police sedan will be used in some European countries. Still, this is far from official. More details will become later in 2021, and the new Crown Vic will arrive at some point during 2022.
