The forthcoming 2022 Ford Everest will get serious upgrades. According to reliable reports, this SUV will arrive as the next-gen model, so significant changes are perfectly reasonable. The same reports are saying that the Ranger pickup truck and Everest SUV will be very similar in various different terms. After all, both models are dominating the dealerships in Australia.
The most significant upgrade will be a plug-in hybrid variant. Moreover, Everest could get the Raptor version for the first time. If the 2022 Everest truly becomes the next-gen model, then we should expect a lot of updates in terms of exterior and interior designs.
2022 Everest Exterior Redesign
The next-gen 2022 Ford Everest will introduce exterior redesign. For a start, Everest SUV will be available in six trim levels, including the off-road-oriented Wildtrak X variant. Official details are not available yet, but we already have an idea of how the new Everest could look like. The front fascia will get a more stylish look, thanks to the new grille design and sharper headlights.
The rear section will get the same treatment with the new taillights and new bumper. New wheels are also in the works, but we don’t know what sizes will Ford offer. New 19-inch alloy wheels are currently just speculation. Lastly, Ford will introduce new exterior colors.
Interior Revamp
On the inside, the new 2022 Ford Everest will also introduce drastic updates. This is going to be interesting as Everest SUV already looks modern and upright. From what we know, the range-topping trim level will get a brand-new 12.8-inch portrait infotainment touchscreen.
The infotainment is up to date, and it supports phone integrations such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The rest of the updates is pure speculation at this moment. However, the new-gen models are usually getting new upholstery, more standard features, and the latest safety amenities.
Engine Lineup Includes Hybrid Powertrain
For a start, both Ranger and Everest models will get rid of an aging 3.2-liter five-cylinder turbodiesel powertrain. The 2022 Ford Everest will arrive with a 2.0-liter twin-turbo four-cylinder as a standard engine option. This powertrain is capable of producing 210 hp and 368 lb-ft of torque. As for the optional engine, it is a 3.0-liter turbo-six with 250 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of twisting power. However, the highlight of the all-new Everest should be a hybrid powertrain.
Whatsoever, the Ranger mid-size truck will get the same output. It is a plug-in hybrid system that comes with a 2.3-liter turbo-four gasoline engine. However, the exact specs are not available yet. Raptor variant is reportedly in the works as well, and we are waiting to hear about the popular Wildtrak X trim level. Both versions are capable off-roaders.
2022 Ford Everest Price and Release Date
Once the next-gen 2022 Ford Everest arrives, the price will start at around $50,000. As for the range-topping trim, it should cost over $75,000. Ford will release the new Everest SUV next summer, along with the mid-size Ranger pickup truck. There will be six trim levels, and the Blue Oval will reveal more details by the end of 2020.
