The upcoming 2022 Ford F-150 Raptor V8 is coming to the markets. As you know, the current Raptor offers a turbocharged V6 engine that provides great performance. A few months ago, rumors about the Raptor R variant started. Now, more reliable reports are strongly suggesting a high-performance Raptor R model with the potent V8 engine.
Until it’s official, we’ll call it Raptor V8. Of course, we will write more about this model, once Blue Oval makes it official. Spy photos are available, the V8 engine will be taken from the Mustang Shelby GT500, but we don’t know if the Raptor R model is truly happening.
F-150 Raptor Redesign
The all-new 2022 Ford F-150 Raptor V8 will look better than its predecessor. Interestingly, Ford teased the 2021 Raptor a few days ago. The teaser image does not reveal so much, but it looks like a classic Raptor. However, the 2022MY should deliver various improvements, including cosmetic upgrades. The new model could be slightly larger, and it will definitely wear more aggressive styling.
A sporty stance could be improved too, but this is just a wild guess at the moment. Blue Oval will reportedly opt for additional ground clearance and a new lighting system. The current Raptor comes with vertical-oriented exterior features, and the 2022 Raptor will deliver horizontally-oriented features.
Interior Updates
The interior of the 2022 Ford F-150 Raptor V8 will also introduce various updates. The goal is to deliver a more modern cabin with more high-quality materials. Of course, the accent is on the sportiness so we expect new seats and even a new steering wheel. Still, the cabin layout won’t change at all, but Raptor will surely gain a more attractive interior look.
Ford will provide a new infotainment system and additional safety aids. A 12-inch touchscreen is offered as standard, which is the highlight of the new model in our opinion. A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster will remain, which is a good thing. Overall, the new F-150 Raptor V8 will look better, its comfort is improved and even the safety ratings will be higher than before.
Supercharged V8 Specs
The forthcoming 2022 Ford F-150 Raptor V8 is reportedly in the works. However, we are calling the Raptor V8, because it will get a supercharged V8 engine. In reality, this model will be called “Raptor R” but Ford is yet to make it official. What is Raptor R? It is a high-performance variant of the high-performance Raptor truck. Yes, it sounds crazy, but Ford wants to rival Ram and its impressive TRX model.
The Ram 1500 TRX is an impressive off-road high-performance truck that provides 702 horsepower, which is a lot. Now, Ford is answering with the Raptor R and its 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, borrowed from the Mustang Shelby GT500. It Mustang, this engine develops astonishing 760 hp and 625 lb-ft of torque. This is the perfect answer, but some reports are suggesting even more power for 2022 Ram 1500 TRX, up to 797 horses.
2022 Ford F-150 Raptor V8 Release Date, Price
The price of the 2022 Ford F-150 Raptor V8 will be closer to $60,000. Blue Oval will reveal more details in the coming months. Most likely, this model will be called the Raptor R. The sales will begin in the first quarter of 2022, so we expect to hear the more exciting news.
