The forthcoming 2022 Ford F-250 will get significant changes. According to some reports, this is going to be the next-gen model. It is a possibility as Ford doesn’t have a logical order of introducing the new-generation models. For example, some generations latest for almost a decade, while some other generations for only two or three years.
That leads us to the F-250 truck and it possible next-generation. While we are waiting for Blue Oval to make it official, the latest spy photos are available. Heavy camouflage perfectly hides most of the exterior elements but we are convinced that something big is happening beneath the camo. The sales of the all-new F-250 truck will begin in the second half of 2021.
Ford F-250 Spy Shots Suggesting Redesign
New spy photos of the arriving 2022 Ford F-250 are available. The spied prototype looks as robust as its predecessor, which isn’t a surprise. On the other hand, it seems like Blue Oval is ready to deliver major visual changes. The platform will remain but the design won’t. The front fascia will suffer the biggest changes. That includes the all-new cut grille that looks sharper and it wears more chrome. The headlamps are looking slimmer and more modern.
Flared fenders are slightly wider and we expect from Ford to deliver new exterior colors. The rear section will introduce the tailgate step and remote-operated power-locking tailgate. However, we don’t know if those features will be standard or optional. We are waiting for a new batch of spy shots that should unveil more information about a possible redesign.
Interior Refreshments
The 2022 Ford F-250 will surely continue with cabin improvements. However, we don’t have any particular info about possible interior revamp. Without any doubt, the F-250 truck will remain roomy and practical. We wouldn’t bet on the complete cabin redesign but modernizing the interior is a must for Blue Oval automaker. That means we should expect more high-tech amenities and more safety features.
As for the visual updates, new color schemes and additional chrome accents would surely refresh the truck’s appearance on the inside. Ford will introduce new massaging front seats and a new infotainment system. We also expect more standard equipment and more features that are right now available in Ford F-150 pickup.
Engine Options
As for the performance, things under the hood should remain intact. The approaching 2022 Ford F-250 will continue to offer the same engine lineup as its predecessor. Everything starts with a 7.3-liter V8 gasoline engine that can produce 430 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. We don’t know if the 6.2-liter V8 will remain a standard engine option.
Some reports are suggesting that Ford plans to remove this powertrain from the lineup. Still, a 6.7-liter PowerStroke diesel engine is available and it is the most popular choice among the buyers. This powertrain is optional and it generates up to 1050 lb-ft of torque. As we said, the platform won’t change so the F-250 truck will remain a rear-wheel-drive vehicle.
2022 Ford F-250 Release Date and Price
The price of the new 2022 Ford F-250 will start at $35,000 or slightly above that. On the other hand, range-topping trim levels such as Platinum or Limited will cost around $50,000. A hybrid powertrain is just a rumor but we think that won’t happen. We’d recommend a relatively-new Tremor package that is affordable and it adds so many improvements. Ford will release its new Super Duty lineup in the second half of 2021.
