The upcoming 2022 Ford F-450 is about to introduce significant changes. According to the latest reports, Ford is working on the next-gen Super Duty lineup. The F-450 truck is known as a capable performer that gets the job done. Its diesel engine is one of the most reliable powertrain options in the segment. New generation will arrive with plenty of visual upgrades and even the interior will be updated.
At this moment, we don’t know what will happen with the performances, but we expect at least some sort of improvement. The sales will begin in the second half of 2021 and the price of the F-450 model will slightly increase.
Ford F-450 Exterior Redesign
The all-new 2022 Ford F-450 will continue to look simple and rugged. Of course, the last couple of models are offering a modern design and some upscale exterior features. The times when F-450 was exclusively a work truck are gone. While the complete Super Duty lineup offers great performances, Blue Oval automaker is paying attention to visual things. The next-gen model will continue to offer aggressive design, especially upfront.
The platform remains so nothing will change in terms of the truck’s size. The front fascia will get a new grille that looks both sharper and more upright. The headlights and taillights are slimmer and we expect to see new exterior paints. Lastly, Ford will provide some practical novelties such as a new tailgate step and a new remote-operated power-locking tailgate.
Interior Updates
On the inside, the new 2022 Ford F-450 will gain more standard equipment. Thanks to that, the new model will offer more high-tech features and more driver-assistance aids. The next-gen model will probably get new interior color schemes and we expect to see a couple of design changes as well.
Moreover, the Super Duty lineup will gain larger touchscreen options, new upholstery, and the latest infotainment system. New Wi-Fi can receive ten devices and Ford will offer USB-C ports. The cabin will look more upscale thanks to the additional chrome accents and wood trims.
Specs, Towing Capacity
According to the latest reports, the new 2022 Ford F-450 won’t offer a 6.2-liter V8 gasoline engine. That means the arriving truck will offer two engine options. A 7.3-liter gasoline V8 is offered as standard. This unit comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Moreover, it generates 430 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. Optionally, a 6.7-liter V8 turbodiesel is a more popular choice.
The diesel engine is capable of producing 450 horsepower. Moreover, Ford will improve its torque so the new F-450 will offer above 1000 lb-ft of twisting power. However, the exact specs are not available yet. As for the towing capacity, the 2022 F-450 truck will tow from 24,000 pounds to 37,000 pounds.
2022 Ford F-450 Price and Release Date
The new-generation 2022 Ford F-450 will get a small price increase. We expect the price will now start at about $51,000. On the other hand, the range-topping trim level will surely cost around $90,000. Complete Super Duty lineup will hit the dealerships in the second half of 2021. More details will become available in the coming months.
