The upcoming 2022 Ford Transit Connect will be the next-gen model. Blue Oval will introduce significant upgrades and an all-electric variant will be the most notable upgrade. New design is another important upgrade, so this model will be completely refreshed.
The interior should gain more standard equipment and a higher level of comfort. First spy shots are available and it is the only proof we needed. Blue Oval plans to reveal more details in the coming weeks. The sales should begin later in 2021, so without further ado, here’s everything we know.
2022 Transit Connect Spy Photos
The new-gen 2022 Ford Transit Connect will gain a completely new look. Spy photos are available and most of the visual changes are easy to spot. New model will wear refreshed design and some upgrades are significant. The test mule looks closer to the Ford Focus Wagon. On top of that, some parts are quite similar to the Ford Fusion model.
However, a longer wheelbase and taller nose clearly suggest that we are dealing with the Transit Connect variant. New model is larger than the previous-gen model and the reason is the platform. New architecture is a must, because of the hybrid system. We can’t predict how big this model will become, but expect a slightly larger van.
Interior Changes
New 2022 Ford Transit Connect can be had in two variants. The first one is a passenger wagon that offers great comfort and a generous interior room. The second variant is the cargo model with an impressive cargo area. Like the exterior design, the interior will also suffer a couple of dramatic upgrades. New model will introduce redesigned dashboard, new displays, and much more.
The cabin is flexible and very easy to customize. The Ford Co-Pilot360 safety suite is improved as well. This suite now offers standard driver-assist features such as pre-collision warning, auto emergency braking, and a rearview camera.
Hybrid Specs
As before, the new 2022 Ford Transit Connect will also deploy its current gasoline engines. A 2.0-liter inline-four with 162 hp and 144 lb-ft of torque is standard once again. The optional 2.5-liter inline-four engine develops 169 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque. The first engine choice offers a six-speed automatic transmission, while the optional provides an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
However, the new Transit Connect will introduce a plug-in hybrid version from now on as well. Ford will combine the hybrid system with the 1.0-liter turbocharged engine, but we are still waiting to hear more details. Reportedly, Transit Connect won’t offer significantly more power. On the other hand, we expect a significant improvement in terms of fuel efficiency.

This plant currently produces Lincoln MKZ and Ford Fusion. The sales will begin in Europe first, later this year. The price of the next-gen Transit Connect will start at about $29,000.
