After numerous spy photos, the new Bronco Raptor SUV finally made its official debut. The first official images are here, although we don’t know all of the details yet. The 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor will arrive in a one-year time, but we’ll know more things once the 2022MY arrives. Generally, the 2023 Bronco will be a carryover and we expect a couple of very minor improvements.
The photos are showing an aggressive SUV with higher ground clearance and chunkier off-road tires. Everything about this model is off-road-oriented, including a wider stance and large 37-inch tires. The Bronco Raptor will cost more than the Ford F-150 Raptor pickup truck, which is slightly surprising. Here’s everything you need to know.
Ford Bronco Raptor Exterior Design
As with any other Raptor, this one also comes with massive tires and beefy suspension. The 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor will look aggressive and it will offer additional ground clearance. Unlike the regular Bronco, Raptor adds between 3.5 and 4.5 degrees of approach, departure, and break-over angles. 17-inch wheels are offered as standard, wearing 37-inch tires. Because of the spare wheel in the back, Ford needed to move the taillights outward.
The “RAPTOR” lettering is easy to spot. However, the taillight housing has the same lettering printed backward. Why? Because it reads correctly in the rearview mirror, which is cool in our opinion. Blue Oval carmaker will also add new shock mounts and dampers, so the ride quality will be impressive, even on the toughest terrains.
Interior Features
The most affordable version of the 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor will wear vinyl seats and rubberized flooring. If you want something premium, you can get more upright materials, including suede seats, leather materials, and even floor carpeting. No matter what you opt for, Raptor models are using extra bolstering anyway.
The headroom is ample, even when you wear a helmet during serious off-road adventures. A 12-inch center touchscreen is available as standard. On top of that, Bronco Raptor delivers an optional Lux package, which adds additional safety aids and a premium 10-speaker B&O sound system.
Engine Specs, Towing Capacity
No surprise under the hood, as the 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor will offer a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine. The very same engine powers the high-performance Ford Explorer ST SUV. However, in Bronco Raptor this engine will feature small changes and upgrades. New turbochargers are here. Moreover, Ford offers a new Baja drive mode which opens the dual exhaust system.
In the Explorer ST, this engine generates 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. We think the Bronco Raptor will produce more than that. We are waiting to hear official info regarding the SUV’s engine specs. On the other hand, new braces on the trailer hitch will help this model to tow around 4500 pounds.
2023 Ford Bronco Raptor Price, Release Date
The upcoming 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor will start at $70,000. As we said, the SUV is more affordable than the F-150 Raptor truck costs $78,500. More importantly, the biggest rival, Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is available for $76,500. The orders will open this March and the first deliveries will begin in summer 2022.
