The new 2023 Ford Escape PHEV has been seen for the first time, just a few days ago. We don’t see any big differences between the current model and the next one, but we hope that the next one will have some changes. As a general rule, we think that its body will only be changed a little under the wrap. The interior will be very modern, and Blue Oval manufacturer will definitely add more standard equipment to the crossovers and SUVs they make
As before, the new one is likely to have the same four engine options as before. The base model comes with a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine as standard, while a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 engine is available for an extra fee. Besides, the manufacturer also makes a PHEV engine, which is the most popular buying option among the customers.
Ford Escape PHEV Spy Shots
The new 2023 Ford Escape PHEV is getting a small facelift. The fourth-generation Escape came out in 2020, and it was an instant hit in the small SUV market because of a lot of big changes. The new one will not be the same, but there will be some small changes in the way it looks. In the first place, we saw a camo wrap on the front fascia of the recently seen SUV, and the grille was a little more aggressive than the one on the current model.
The grille looks bigger and has narrower headlamps on each side next to it, making it look like it is bigger. However, things in the back aren’t as obvious, and we haven’t seen any big changes. In case you didn’t know, the Escape PHEV model will look exactly like the regular version.
Interior Upgrades
We haven’t heard anything official about the interior of the 2023 Ford Escape PHEV, simply because it’s still in its early stages. New technology is almost always going to be added to good-selling models such as this one. It’s possible that Ford’s BlueCruise autonomous system could be used in the next model. The Escape would have a big advantage over other rivals in its class if this is correct.
Blue Oval will reportedly add more supportive seats for an improved level of comfort. The current model offers good rear legroom, and a new one should provide the same amount of space in the cabin. We also expect to see new driver-assistance aids for improved safety. Still, the interior changes are far from dramatic.
37 Miles of All-Electric Driving Range
Escape will provide the same four engine choices as the outgoing model did. The new 2023 Ford Escape PHEV will also arrive with the same output, without improved efficiency. The base Escape model is a 1.5-liter turbo engine that makes 180 horsepower and 190 lb-ft. of torque, It comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission as well as front wheels (FWD). All-wheel drive (AWD) is available as an option. The optional engine is a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine that makes 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft. of torque, and it has the same 8-speed transmission. There is no extra charge for an all-wheel-drive on this version.
There is a gasoline 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine in both the hybrid and the plug-in hybrid outputs. The electric motor provides slightly more power. Because of that, the total output is 221 horsepower. The Escape PHEV can recharge its bigger battery from an outside source and it can go 37 miles in electric mode. The hybrid can only go about 20 miles in electric mode. As for the real fuel economy, Escape PHEV gets around 105 MPGe.
2023 Ford Escape PHEV Release Date, Price
The price of the upcoming 2023 Ford Escape PHEV should start at around $33,000. The plug-in hybrid powertrain is available in SE, SEL and Titanium trim levels. As for the launch date, Blue Oval will probably release the new Escape crossover this summer.
