The upcoming 2023 Ford Focus has been spied for the first time. This new model won’t arrive with significant changes. However, some upgrades will happen for sure. Though the Ford Focus is no longer available in North America, it is still alive and well on the other side of the globe.
However, the fourth-generation Focus has been on the market since 2018, indicating that it is past due for an update. And now, we’ve discovered a 2023 Focus prototype testing near Ford’s European technical headquarters, displaying its upcoming upgrades. Here’s everything you need to know about the popular Focus car.
Ford Focus Spy Photos
This 2023 Ford Focus will remain a five-door hatchback. The new model has been spied recently with a new front and rear design. The prototype’s headlights are flatter than those on the existing model, and they also display a new daytime graphic. Overall, the front end of the Focus prototype appears to have gotten more modifications than the rear section. The front part now sports a revised hood, front bumper, and grille design, all of which can be seen despite Ford’s efforts to conceal it all.
The only noticeable difference at the rear is a new light graphic. None of these improvements are spectacular, but they do give the 2023 Focus a sleeker, more contemporary look. Given how well the Focus sells in Europe today, it is most likely all it requires to remain competitive for the time being.
Interior Features
The interior of the new 2023 Ford Focus will continue in the same fashion as always before. The changes are far from dramatic, However, the 2023MY will once again offer a sophisticated cabin design with upright materials. Surprisingly, but the Focus model is spacious for such a small hatchback. Ford will replace the traditional keypad with an 8-inch touchscreen.
Moreover, the instrument cluster hosts a pair of 4.2-inch screens. The list of standard equipment is great, including a couple of new safety aids. The result is a comfortable hatchback with nice ride quality and a plethora of modern features.
Hybrid Powertrain Reportedly in the Works
The next 2023 Ford Focus could gain a new powertrain option. Right now, this model offers a familiar 1.0-liter EcoBoost three-cylinder engine. This unit provides 123 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque. While this drivetrain is not so potent, it does provide great fuel efficiency. Speaking of which, a hybrid variant is very likely to happen.
On the other hand, the Focus RS variant is less likely to happen. According to Blue Oval, the brand will have to kill gas-powered hot hatches in Europe, due to growing emissions regulations in Europe. Still, we are waiting to hear more about the rumored hybrid powertrain.
