The Maverick is a new small pickup truck that will have a hybrid powertrain option. However, the 2023 Ford Maverick could come in an all-electric version, which would be interesting. This isn’t official yet, but many reports say that the Maverick Lightning model is likely.
There won’t be any changes in the 2023MY. Of course, the electric version is the only new thing. In the past, Ford said that the Maverick pickup would also be sold South America. It’s clear that the Blue Oval company has big plans for its small pickup.
All-Electric 2023 Maverick is Going to Happen
The rumors come after the F-150 Lightning truck and the Mustang Mach-E crossover became official. Blue Oval is about to launch another all-electric pickup truck. The 2023 Ford Maverick Lightning. A lot of reliable sources say that the electric Maverick is going to happen, even though it isn’t official yet. No doubt about it, Ford is going to keep investing in its electric cars.
In the next few weeks, we’ll see the first images. The front of the Maverick will look a lot like that of the Lightning on the F-150. On the other hand, the regular Maverick will be different from the electric version, and it will not be the same. Anyway, this is a small pickup truck, so we expect to see smaller battery packs and a less powerful engine. The same system will still be used for Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning models, though.
Other Engine Options
In the basic XL version of the 2023 Ford Maverick, the engine is a hybrid mix, a 2.5 liter four-cylinder and an electric motor. This makes 191 horsepower and has a continuously variable automatic gearbox with it. Ford promises to get 40 miles per gallon in the city, which is about the same as the Escape Hybrid’s EPA rating. The hybrid Maverick only come with front-wheel drive, so they can get 40 miles per gallon in the city.
As of now, all-wheel drive is standard on the Escape Hybrid crossover. Ford says it may add it later if demand is high enough. A non-hybrid turbo-four 2.0-liter engine is an option that comes with front- or all-wheel drive. It has 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. It has an eight-speed automatic transmission and comes with a lot of other things. Hybrid versions can tow up to 2000 pounds, while the turbo 2.0-liter engine can tow up to 4000 pounds.
2023 Ford Maverick Price, Release Date
In the most recent news, the new 2023 Ford Maverick will be sold in South America. This new truck will join the F-150 and Ranger trucks, as well as the Raptor variants, on the market now. It will also spend a lot of money on the Pacheco plant in Argentina, where the new Ranger will be made. It will be available in North America as well.
The small pickup will come in three different trim levels. Prices start at $21,500 for the 2022MY this fall. The XLT trim level should start at $24,000, and the Lariat version costs $27,000.
