The new-generation 2023 Ford Ranger pickup truck is currently being tested by Blue Oval. Surprisingly, the newly spotted model sports an atypical Rangers style that appears revamped in some areas. In general, the latest generation, like the previous one, is equipped with one of the most attractive and well-known design languages in the segment and beyond.
Furthermore, the interior is modern, and the new Ranger is full of high-tech features. Unfortunately, no detail about the engine is currently available. Many people say it would use the same powertrain as the current Ranger. The new pickup truck model is powered by a 2.3-liter turbocharged unit producing 270 horsepower.
2023 Ranger Redesign
Despite this annoying camouflage, the latest spy images of the 2023 Ford Ranger show some changes on the front fascia. Surprisingly, certain bits are noticeable, which gives us an idea of how the new mid-size truck could look like. For starters, the whole front fascia looks even more appealing, with clearer, more aggressive lines than on the existing model.
Interestingly, the new 2022 Ford Maverick seems to have a similar front-end layout. Furthermore, the spied prototype of the new Ford Ranger has a leaf spring suspension setup, which may mean that it is a Tremor model hidden under the camouflage.
Interior Will Introduce a Lot of Improvements
Right now, no one knows what will change inside the 2023 Ford Ranger. Given that the spied model has the same dimensions as the current version, we can assume the same seating configuration. The Ford Ranger will also be available in XL, XLT, and Lariat trim levels, as before. The next-gen model will surely deliver a lot of updates. However, the base trim level will once again offer decent stuff. The infotainment system is up to date, and features such as Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Wi-Fi will be on offer once again.
Entry-level models are offering pre-collision warning feature that identifies cars and pedestrians in front of the vehicle. However, the mid-range XLT trim is still the better option. The XLT Ranger and all of the trim levels above will get an updated version of the Ford Co-Pilot360 safety suite. Thanks to that, the mid-size truck will offer more driver-assistance aids and higher safety ratings.
Hybrid Still Not Official
Most likely, nothing will change under the bonnet. This means the next-gen 2023 Ford Ranger will use the same engine as its predecessor. Many people expect the Blue Oval would add a new powertrain option. In addition, hybrid and even plug-in models are the possible outcomes. The new Ford Ranger is powered by a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 270 horsepower. This engine is paired with an easy-to-use 10-speed automatic transmission.
With its 7,500-pound towing capacity and best-in-segment payload numbers, the Ranger holds its own against competitors. On the other hand, fuel efficiency is not one of this pickup’s strong points. It has an EPA rating of 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway (RWD). Loading the AWD system provides 20/24 mpg.
2023 Ford Ranger Release Date, Price
As for the price, new 2023 Ford Ranger will start at above $30,000. The next-gen model will hit the dealerships later in 2022, but some reports are suggesting next summer as the possible launch date.
