The brand-new 2023 Lincoln EV SUV will hit the roads later next year, according to the latest reports. Reportedly, Lincoln will co-work with Rivian in building this new all-electric model. However, that won’t happen and Lincoln will do things on his own. From what we hear, Lincoln will build a new EV SUV around the Zephyr Concept.
This concept has been revealed recently. And while some rumors are calling the new model the Aviator EV, some other speculations are predicting the Make E SUV. In reality, no one knows the name of the brand-new model, nor its specs. Anyway, here’s everything we know so far.
Platform
At this moment, we don’t know that much about the new 2023 Lincoln EV SUV. This model is happening, and it is official. However, you can find a lot of rumors regarding this all-electric model. First reports said Lincoln will certainly deploy a famous skateboard platform, the same architecture that underpins Rivian R1T pickup truck and R1S SUV.
Now, it seems like that won’t be the case. Lincoln will not develop this SUV with Rivian. Instead, Ford’s sub-brand is going solo. Thanks to that, we could assume that the GE1 platform will underpin this model. It is the architecture that will support the upcoming Mustang Mach-E crossover.
Exterior Design
Lincoln already offers a hybrid model. The plan is to go fully electric by 2030. This means the 2023 Lincoln EV SUV is just the beginning. The new model will look closer to the Aviator SUV, although the new Zephyr Concept will serve as an inspiration for the brand’s first all-electric vehicle. Thanks to that, we expect to see a more futuristic and distinctive design.
However, the things that will distinguish it from the gasoline-powered Aviator will be a LED lighting setup and the grille. The interior will be premium for sure, with a flat floor, a high level of comfort, and the latest technologies.
Driving Range, Power
The forthcoming 2023 Lincoln EV SUV will most likely share a lot of stuff with the new Mustang Mach-E crossover. Of course, performance figures will be different, but this SUV will probably deploy the same batteries and the same platform. This means Lincoln’s first all-electric model will offer both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive systems. On top of that, this SUV will deliver between 300 and 400 miles of fully electric driving range. Thanks to that, this model can easily compete with established SUVs such as the Audi e-Tron, Tesla Model X, and Jaguar I-Pace.
Some reports are suggesting an output of 550 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque. In our opinion, those figures will be smaller, but the SUV will still provide amazing performances. Lastly, we don’t know that much about the vehicle’s level of autonomy. GM now offers its Super Cruise system and Lincoln is about to introduce its Lincoln Active Glide system. Still, we can’t determine the level of autonomy yet.
2023 Lincoln EV SUV Release Date
New 2023 Lincoln EV SUV will debut later next year, with three more models reportedly coming later in 2023. The price is not available yet, and we don’t know how this model will be named. No doubt, Lincoln will work on electrifying all of its models, including Navigator, Corsair, Nautilus, and Aviator. More details should emerge in the coming weeks or months.
