The upcoming 2024 Ford Bronco Sport Hybrid is on the way. Unlike the larger Ford Bronco, the smaller Bronco Sport will have hybrid power. It is a compact crossover with a rugged look, as we can see in some teaser images and spy photos. The sales will reportedly begin later in 2023, which means the model is more than a year away.
Although we don’t know everything about this new model, reliable reports are strongly predicting which engines and trim levels will be on offer. Still, this is not official, which is why we are bringing all the info you need to know.
Powertrain Options
This new crossover will feature a hybrid powertrain. Most likely, the 2024 Ford Bronco Sport Hybrid will receive the same engine as the Ford Escape. It is a plug-in hybrid powertrain that provides more than enough power and great fuel efficiency. On the other hand, some reports are suggesting the same setup that can be found in the Ford Maverick pickup. All three models are using the same Ford C2 architecture, so all of the outcomes are reasonable. The compact Maverick pickup uses a 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle four-cylinder engine with an electric motor. This output is rated at 191 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque. The Escape crossover deploys a similar setup, but it delivers 220 horsepower. Moreover, it provides 20 miles of all-electric range.
The media is still speculating, so there is also an option to borrow a hybrid system from the Ford F-150 truck or Ford Explorer SUV. However, we refuse to believe that the small Bronco Sport Hybrid will feature a larger 3.0-liter V6 engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission. Whatever the case, the new Bronco Sport will surely gain some sort of performance upgrade. The hybrid powertrain is official, as Ford already released the owner’s manual that mentions the hybrid powertrain option.
Design, Trim Levels, Interior
Recently, we saw the first spy shots of the 2024 Ford Bronco Sport Hybrid crossover. This small model looks rugged, which may come as a surprise. The spy photos are not showing the charging port, which is probably hidden under the heavy camouflage. On the other hand, it could be a prototype with a traditional combustion engine.
Some car experts are saying it is definitely a hybrid, as the photos are showing orange high-voltage cables. The Bronco Sport Hybrid model will offer numerous trim levels, but we don’t know if the smaller crossover will share trim levels with a larger Bronco. The same is for the exterior colors and some interior detail such as the size of displays and more.
2024 Ford Bronco Sport Hybrid Price, Release Date
We’ll know more details on the 2024 Ford Bronco Sport Hybrid soon. The production of the hybrid model will end at the Ford’s Hermosillo Assembly Plant later this year. The sales will begin at some point next year, probably in the summer. The price is not official, but many experts are predicting a starting price of around $27,500. This means the hybrid version will cost above $30k.
