The 2023MY is not here yet, and we are already hearing details about the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning truck. The Ford F-150 Lightning is the all-electric version of the famous F-150 truck. If the nameplate seems familiar, it’s because Blue Oval carmaker resurrected the nameplate from the previous high-performance Ford F-150 SVT Lightning, which was last seen almost two decades ago.
Unlike the futuristic Rivian R1T and the far-flung Tesla Cybertruck, this Lightning is noted for its traditional-looking truck appearance. With the new Silverado EV and RAM EV models coming soon, Ford is already preparing further upgrades for its Lightning variant.
Ford F-150 Lightning Gets More Power
According to Blue Oval, the Lightning model will produce a lot of power. As we said, the rivals are on the way, so the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning will receive further updates. For a start, the 2023MY will produce 563 horsepower. However, the new model will generate up to 580 horsepower. Of course, we are talking about the extended-range model. As for the standard range, it will develop 426 horsepower. But, in 2024 it will reportedly provide 452 horsepower.
On the other hand, the torque will remain at 775 lb-ft on both variants. This should result in slightly better payload and towing capacities, although the improvements are far from significant. As for the battery options, the standard battery will provide 230 miles of driving range on a single charge. The extended-range battery will get 320 miles of range.
Interior Changes
No doubt, the 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning will be packed with high-tech features. However, we don’t expect serious upgrades over the 2023 model year. For a start, Ford offers over-the-air updates and the new model will surely include more safety aids. There is a Blue Cruise hands-free driving experience. Another important feature is the FordPass app that allows remote vehicle control and it also makes finding a charging station easier. Another great software is the Onboard Scales.
This one is using sensors to estimate how much weight the truck is pulling. Thanks to that, the Onboard Scales will also show driving range while the truck is towing or hauling things. Right now, only the Lariat and Platinum trim levels are offering SYNC 4A infotainment. In the future, even the lower-grade models will have this system supported by a large 15.5-inch touchscreen.
2024 Ford F-150 Lightning Price, Release Date
The forthcoming 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning could arrive at a slightly higher price. The current Lightning truck starts at $40,000 and the luxury versions will cost over $90,000. The sales will begin next summer. Ford will produce only 40,000 units this year, while the next year will bring around 150,000 examples. As for the 2024MY, we expect even higher numbers.
