This might seem like a good change of pace for Ford. Get ready for the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse. Mostly, all we have seen from the Big Blue Oval are pickups and a lot of them. But one iconic vehicle made Ford what it is today. It is the Mustang. This iconic model has changed over generations, but one thing stayed the same.
It is a good-looking car, it is fast, and it is much sought-after among people. We can expect all sorts of innovative technology with this pony. This includes better materials used, and the interior will be stylish and luxurious. Under the hood, there are many possible options. Let’s take a look at how the new Mustang might look.
According to Edwin Krenz (chief engineer of the Mustang), Dark Horse Edition will “compete to win”.
Ford Mustang Dark Horse Interior Upgrades
The drive-mode button is conveniently located within reach of the new 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse’s thick-rimmed, flat-bottom steering wheel, which is covered in suede and adorned with bright Indigo Blue stitching. The door panels and seats are wearing accents with additional blue stitching, but for the most interior blue, choose the Appearance package’s Deep Indigo Blue seats with rips that show even bluer.
Even on the Dark Horse, Recaro seats can still be ordered. Other inside trim and bezels are completed in a dark metallic finish called Black Alley. Each Dark Horse also comes equipped with a custom welcome animation on the screens and a B&O audio system with 12 speakers and a subwoofer.
Dark and Sporty
The exterior is quite flashy. The brand new 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse has darkened headlights with a shadow graphic. On the front, we have mesh openings for air intakes, and they are gloss black carbon. It has fangs as well.
Side skirts are present, and we get a rear diffuser with four exhaust tips. There is a horseshoe badge on it. The rims are made of lightweight carbon, and the carbon used on the Dark Horse is 40% lighter than standard carbon.
Color
In addition to the standard exterior colors, the Dark Horse edition will be distinguished by the new Blue Ember color. Also, the blue color dominates the cabin, among other things, the seats have a blue touch.
Noisy Coyote V8 Engine Specs
There aren’t many options to choose from when it comes to the powertrain. But fans will be thrilled that Ford handpicked the best option for the sports car. It will be a 5.0-liter V8. It doesn’t get much better than that for a racing car. The setup has dual throttle bodies that are cooled by dual air intakes. But Dark Horse went a bit further than that. It will come only with the abovementioned V8, also called Coyote. It can produce over 500 horsepower, which is more than enough for this car. This engine is the strongest naturally aspirated 5.0-V8 on the planet.
It has a six-speed manual transmission, because who doesn’t like changing gears themselves when drag racing? Big Blue Oval even put a special 3D-printed titanium knob on the gearshift. There is also a 10-speed automatic for those who prefer not to change gears themselves. Both transmissions are only available with rear-wheel drive. And they get a limited-slip differential. The automatic version has an auxiliary transmission oil cooler and an anodized metallic shift paddle. The Dark Horse has MagneRide shocks that distribute and manage weight quite well.
Safety
It keeps the tires firmly pressed down and it pays attention to ride comfort along with braking, acceleration and turning. The new Mustang does come with a traditional hand brake for those who enjoy drifting. It has 15.4-inch two-piece rotors that get chomped by six-piston calipers on the front, and they have NACA duct cooling. The rear brakes are 14-inch discs with four piston calipers and an electric parking brake. As of yet, there are no hybrid or electric versions announced. We don’t believe that is something that attracts a crowd when talking about a racing car of this caliber.
Torsen limited-slip differential comes as a standard in Mustang Dark Horse Edition. Besides that, it also has upgraded shock absorbers and larger Brembo brakes.
Fuel Economy
The new 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse gets around the same as Mach 1. We can expect 15 mpg in the city, a highway of around 23 and 18 mpg combined. This is expected for an engine of that size. Of course, hybrid versions would improve the numbers, but we don’t expect that to happen any time soon.
The 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse Will Cost Around $60k
The starting price for the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse will probably start at around $60,000. This is a decent price for a sports car of this pedigree. After all, it does come with an expensive name. The main competitor is a Dodge Charger Daytona SRT.
