The forthcoming 2024 Ford Mustang V8 will introduce even more power once it arrives later in 2023. Of course, we are referring to a potent V8 Coyote gas engine. In the Dark Horse performance variant, this engine is producing 480 horsepower. Moreover, the same engine in Mustang GT produces 500 horsepower. That is about to change, so expect even better performance from this iconic sports car. Mustang is on the road for over five decades.
It comes with tradition and it is one of the most reliable cars in the segment, ever. As before, you can get a Mustang model with a smaller 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine. You can choose between various editions, from GT to Dark Horse and Shelby GT350. The sharper and more aggressive design will remain and the interior will be more modern than it is right now. Still, the next model will focus mostly on the performances.
Ford Mustang V8 Engine Specs
The 2024 Ford Mustang V8 is known for impressive acceleration, noise, and generally, great performance. It is a well-known 5.0-liter V8 Coyote engine that gets all the credit. This naturally-aspirated output produces between 480 horsepower and 500 horsepower. The Dark Horse high-performance variant gets 500 hp, while the base Mustang GT generates 480 hp. Even the Mach 1 version will gain more power, so expect around 500 horses.
The Mustang V8 currently develops up to 415 lb-ft of torque. Of course, the new model will get another small boost, which is great to hear. The Dark Horse Mustang provides different connecting rods and crankshafts, so the performance is generally better. The customers can still choose between a 6-speed manual and 10-speed automatic transmission. While we don’t know how much power the Mustang V8 will get, we expect the best performance so far.
What About EcoBoost Engine?
Unlike the loud V8 engine, the Mustang car comes with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine as standard. Yes, the 2024 Ford Mustang V8 is the best option you could get. However, this smaller displacement is doing a good job, both in terms of power and fuel efficiency. It can produce 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. Reportedly, Ford plans to introduce more power but does not expect a major increase.
The four-cylinder unit has been reworked recently, but Blue Oval still finds a way to improve it additionally. In terms of fuel economy, the Mustang with a 2.3-liter engine and manual transmission gets 22 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. The automatic gearbox will provide a slightly lower miles-per-gallon rating on the highway.
