After about 8 million were made over 34 years of largely uninterrupted manufacturing, the Ford Taurus retired in the U.S. three years ago, bringing an era to an end. However, the Taurus brand continues to be used in China, where the Ford CD4 Platform is used for that model, and in the Middle East, where it has been the best-selling nameplate there for the last five years.
Although it is really a rebadged version of the similarly new Chinese Ford Mondeo, the brand-new 2024 Ford Taurus has now been unveiled for the Middle East. Without further ado, here’s everything you need to know about the new Taurus.
Exterior Design
As we said, the 2024 Ford Taurus will be sold in the Middle East as a rebadged variant of the Chinese Ford Mondeo. Thanks to that, the Taurus model will have the same striking exterior design and it will also use the same CD4 platform. The front fascia will sport a sharper look with new LED daytime running lights and LED headlights.
The grille looks prominent and even the bumpers are new. The rear section hosts LED taillights and a LED light bar. The Taurus badge sits on the trunk lid, so you can’t miss it. The Taurus sedan will provide lots of silver accents, so it looks very stylish. We are waiting to hear more details regarding the trim levels, and optional features, including wheels.
Ford Taurus Interior
The interior of the new 2024 Ford Taurus will look very upright. The comfort is great so it is a nice place to be in. This sedan will offer a standard 8-inch digital instrument cluster and a large 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen. Furthermore, Blue Oval will deliver a wireless charging pad, a two-tone dash, and a three-spoke steering wheel. Similar stuff can be found in the rebadged Mondeo model.
From what we know, the new Ford Evos and Lincoln Zephyr model will have a similar interior in the future. The Taurus will be slightly wider than the Mondeo model, although the two models will share the same underpinnings. Expect more luxury in the upper trim levels. On the other hand, even the base variant will be surprisingly upscale.
Engine Specs
As we expected, the new 2024 Ford Taurus will have a 2.0-liter engine. It is a turbo-four EcoBoost variant that comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This engine will reportedly produce around 240 horsepower. Of course, Ford could provide this engine as an option, while the standard engine choice will deliver less power and higher fuel efficiency. The Taurus SHO is also speculation. It is an iconic high-performance variant that could gain a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 360 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque.
2024 Ford Taurus Price, Release Date
The next 2024 Ford Taurus will cost around $30,000, more or less. If the high-performance Taurus SHO truly arrives, then it will surely cost closer to $50,000. The Taurus model will share a lot of stuff with Ford Mondeo, but Taurus will go on sale in the Middle East. This model will reportedly arrive next summer.
