The new generation of heavy-duty trucks by Ford is already on the streets. However, it won’t stop the engineers of the Blue Oval company from pushing the performance to the limits. The 2025 Ford F-350 might hit 40,000 pounds of towing capacity thanks to massive torque outputs. In case you missed it – a turbodiesel engine under the hood of the new truck can produce 1,200 lb-ft. However, this is reserved for the High-Output package and upscale trims. In its base form, the F-350 still delivers a lot of twisting power.
There are only two rivals in the Series 3 segment – the Chevy Silverado 3500 and the Ram 3500. Well, we don’t count Chevrolet’s mechanical twin, GMC Sierra 3500, with the same powertrain and outputs. All the trucks are at the same levels of performance and towing capacities. A few years ago, 30,000 pounds was a magical limit. Now, the F-350 can do 37,000 lbs, and after further modifications, we might see the 2025 YM breaking the 40,000 lbs.
The towing capacity is higher, as well as the price. The base 2025 Ford F-350 won’t cost under $47,000. You’ll pay double for the high-end Limited edition. The Super Duty segment is not offering the Raptor edition. If you want to go off-road, there is the Tremor package. The company also added a new petrol engine. Well, the 7.3-liter V8 is not old. However, the main choice for most truckers is a turbodiesel.
New Petrol Engine
Not only the F-350, but the entire Super Duty class is getting a new gasoline unit. It is a 6.8-liter V8 with 405 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque. Towing capacity numbers are not out yet, but this is the new entry-level plant and it can’t haul as much as mills with higher outputs. On the other hand, it must be fuel-friendlier. A 10-speed automatic gearbox is a power router. This is not the first time the Super Duty class features a 6.8-liter displacement. Last time it was a V10, while the new one uses eight cylinders.
There is Also the GODZILLA!
A 6.8-l engine is called “Mini-Zilla”, and the real Godzilla is a 7.3-liter V8 plant, which debuted a few years earlier. This setup can deliver 430 hp and 480 lb-ft, for a maximum towing capacity of 21,000 lbs. Again, a 10-speed gearbox is there and you choose between a 2WD and a 4WD. This engine also makes the truck more expensive. You’ll have to pay extra to get it, and then there is a fuel economy that is worse than the mileage you can get from a 6.8-l engine.
Turbodiesel Is Still the #1 Choice
A 6.7-liter turbodiesel by Powerstroke is the best configuration you can get for your 2025 Ford F-350. Just look at these numbers: max power – 475 hp; max torque – 1,200 lb-ft; max towing capacity – 37,000 pounds. Figures might go up, but even such outputs make the Super Duty competitive. The diesel unit is available for all trim levels. Ford uses its own mill, while Chevrolet and GMC take the Duramax plant, and Ram exploits Cummins drivetrain. All in all, the F-350 is a step ahead of the competition.
Which 2025 Ford F-350 Trim Level is the Best?
The 2025 Ford F-350 Limited is packed with all the advanced goodies, but the price exceeds $100k. Not too many truckers will buy the premium model, although some of the features are more than cool. The base version will satisfy most needs of everyday work. But, the XL is far from exciting with basic options, such as steel wheels and a small infotainment display. The XLT fixes that at a reasonable price. Lariat is already on the way to being the luxury truck with $65,000 price tag. King Ranch and Platinum definitely belong to the premium segment. As for the Limited, $80,000 is way above the average price paid for a truck in the US.
Tremor is the most interesting optional package. It will make the 2025 Ford F-350 run off the road like it’s not a big deal. You will need it if you plan to tow a lot. Also, this bundle brings a lot of goodies to adventurers. A lighter 4×4 upgrade is the FX4 package. The truck offers all three cab configurations, although Regular Cab and SuperCab are available only for lower trims. Most colors are free to pick. Tri-coat shades cost $1k. Chrome package can also boost the aggressive appearance of the F-350.
2025 Ford F-350 Dually Truck
To get the best of the F-Series truck, you’ll need a dual-rear-wheel setup. This configuration is unavailable for the F-250, while it can be also added to the F-450 model. With it the maximum towing capacity is possible. Besides extra wheels, there are a few other upgrades that will make towing easier and more convenient. The air intake system is modified, as well as the suspension. The DRW models cost about $2,000 more than the base versions.
