The forthcoming 2020 Ford Bronco will arrive very soon. And while the U.S. markets will be the very first markets that will have the opportunity to obtain new Bronco, what about the other markets. Specifically, we are asking about the South American market. Bronco may arrive in Brazil and other countries, but South America already possesses its own Bronco. Have you heard about the Ford Troller T4?
The Ford Troller T4 is an off-road SUV and is extremely popular in South America. Blue Oval bought Troller ten years ago. In 2014, Troller T4 received a total redesign that is still present. Troller T4 now rides on the T6 platform that currently underpins the global Ranger model. The current model suspiciously looks like the Jeep Wrangler or earlier versions of Ford Bronco.
Jeep-Like Exterior Design
The current Ford Troller T4 looks like a Jeep Wrangler, a lot. The Wrangler comes with a more appealing design that is universal for both city and off-road rides. The Troller T4 is not uglier, but its exterior design is clearly suggesting that it is an off-road SUV. Its Jeep-like appearance can be even compared to the earlier models of Ford Bronco. No doubt, the exterior is more functional. The T4 SUV offers plenty of dark plastics, 17-inch wheels, more angular creases, and further dark accents.
The windshield is flat, along with the rear glass and side windows. A “Sky Roof” is actually a standard moonroof and this model also sports a twin roof rack bars. That allows some extra storage while the tailgate comes with a traditional off-road spare tire. A trailer hitch is in the offer too, just like the built-in side steps. Interestingly, there is no Ford badging on the exterior.
Ford Troller T4 Practical Interior
The interior of the Ford Troller T4 is extremely functional and it sports amazing surfaces that are easy to clean. Even the vinyl floor is present, along with the cloth seats and plastic dash. The arriving model is still a mystery, but the current model definitely offers functionality over style.
Of course, if you want similar-looking SUV for casual city ride, Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco will be a much better choice. After all, those two are by far more premium and upscale. But the Troller T4 is more affordable and it serves for the off-road purpose only.
Turbodiesel Engine Specs
Under the hood, the current Ford Troller T4 currently sports a 3.2-liter five-cylinder turbodiesel engine. This drivetrain is very similar to the current engine that powered the Ford Transit van. Turbodiesel unit generates 186 horsepower and 355 lb-ft of torque.
It is more than enough power for the T4 model to tackle ungrateful South American terrains. Blue Oval carmaker will definitely deploy the manual gearbox once again, probably with six speeds. Off-roading is even better thanks to the Torsen front differential and electronic locking rear differential.
Ford Troller T4 Price and Release Date
The more premium Jeep Wrangler starts at around $30,000. Ford Bronco will probably cost slightly more. With that in mind, Ford Troller T4 will start at around $24,000. This off-road SUV is a perfect alternative for the Bronco and Wrangler SUVs in South America. It will hit the markets in the first half of 2020, but not in the U.S.
